The organizational analysis will be based on Marriott International Inc. Marriott International Inc is a multinational hospitality company based in the United States. The company is a worldwide operator, franchisor and licensor of hotel, residential and timeshares under numerous names at different prices and services points (Form 10-k, 2017). The company operates more than 6700 properties across 130 countries and territories. The company was founded by J. Willard and Alice Marriott. The company business segment includes North American full services, North American Limited Services and international. The company provides hotelier and lodging services to a customer in different countries under the Marriott brand name or any other brand managed by Marriott International Inc.
The business model of the company includes managing properties for a fee, franchising some of the hotels and lodging properties for certain fees and licensing the use of Marriott brand name to be used by various investors at fees. Additionally, the company has a few lodging properties that the company owns. At the end of 2017, the company operated approximate 1959 company-operated properties which are around 554, 642 rooms which included properties under long-term management or leases agreement. The company revenue was more than 22 billion in the fiscal years ended in 2017 (Form 10-k, 2017). The primarily targeted customer includes tourist who visits different regions in the world for holidays. The locals are also targeted especially during holidays, firm end year parties and organization meeting or seminars.
The organization provides those services to individual and executive who visit the hotelier for accommodation or vacation or fully paid trip by the organization as part of perks provided to executives. The company is still increasing it brand portfolio whereby in 2017, it managed to acquire Starwood Hotel and Resort worldwide. The revenue grew from $17,072 million in 2016 to 22,899 million in 2017 which indicate the future of the organization is promising. The firm executive mains function is to implements budgeting and coming up with strategic objectives.
The sale and marketing departments focus on selling and booking visitors by advertising the company on different platforms which include airline websites, countries travel agency and social media (Kaplan, & Haenlein, 2010). The sites help in increasing traffic within the company. The communication and marketing option is enabling through IT departments which provide security features to protect the organization from security risk. The sales department allows credit payments and online booking which means that the company has well effective networks system. The system is connected to different market segments as outlined in the brief overview of the firm. The company has employed approximate 177,000 employees and around 23,000 employees are members of the Union. The company has a positive relationship with employees.
The employees sourced are distributed according to the company needs in different hotels and restaurants, for example, the company has advertised 17,092 full-time employees who be distributed to various hotels and 1456 part-time employees (Marriott International Inc website). The company has several hostels and restaurant in North American segment and therefore the function of information and technology will target on offering information on human factors and its effects to company networks system because the company offer services to a large number of customer, therefore, it a potential target by hackers and individuals who want to steal personal information of customers. The people were planning to invite in the final pitch presentation include the Thomas Sturniolo director of operation and Arne M. Sorenson president and chief executive Marriott International Inc.
