General Advice: Read the question you choose very carefully, and make sure you are answering it. What you write must be clearly relevant to answering the question as asked. (The reader should never have to ask themselves “Why am I being told this?”) A Guide. Roughly speaking, each prompt requires you to provide an analysis of an argument, a possible objection to the argument, and an evaluation of the argument in light of the objection. Therefore your essay should have three sections: an exposition of an argument, an objection to the argument, and an evaluation. Each section will be assigned roughly equal weight in calculating your grade, so don’t short-change any of the sections. (Note that a good evaluation section is not simply a recap, but presents some new reason or consideration that has not already been discussed in the previous sections of the essay.)
