For this project, you will analyze two of the CORE READINGS, comparing them based on the perspectives and views they express, how they address or deal with common themes, form arguments and draw conclusions, and/or establish their credibility. One of the two texts you will analyze must be the core reading you wrote about for Writing Project 1. The other one may be any of the other core readings found in the Core Readings folder inside the Resources area of the course.

Your comparative analysis must be relevant, complex, reasonable, and supportable using evidence from the texts themselves (as explained in CHAPTER 7 of Writing: Ten Core Concepts, pp. 183-184), focusing on features of the two readings that are relevant and comparable.

Step 1 of CHAPTER 7, as well as Step 1 of CHAPTER 3, will guide you as you develop a working question that is relevant to the core readings you chose to analyze. This working question, in turn, will help you devise points of comparison between the texts.

Besides CHAPTER 7, you should also consult Learning Activities in Class Session 5 and Sessions 3 & 4 Class Discussion about the core readings to deepen your thinking and prepare for your first draft.
