Med student held without bail in possible Craigslist killing

When researching a story written about action and crimes committed by Philip Markoff the “Craigslist Murder” and the action of the Boston Police Department, I found a few materials who published a story about Philip Markoff, particularly journals, newspapers, and brochures. These authors often placed about a student of the Boston University's School of Medicine. He suspected of killing a women he may have met through a Craigslist. Markoff is charged with killing 26-year-old Julissa Brisman of New York on April 14 at Boston's Copley Marriott Hotel. The story was published (see Murderpedia, for example). However, while these authors discuss journals, newspapers, and brochures, I could not find much discussion about another important source of Craigslist Murder: a good investigative work. My goal in this paper is to bring this source into the crime to analyze discussion by connecting three section from the forensic techniques.

To achieve this goal, I have organized my paper into three main sections, two of which have sub-sections. In the first section, I bring about section of three important analyze and discussion: general digital forensic techniques and lead into the second section of the paper. In the second section, I discuss and analysis of the forensic techniques used by the Boston Police Department and other law enforcement agencies in the investigation of the Craigslist Murder and Forensic accountants in the Digital Age. I end my paper with a third section that offers research questions that could be answered in future versions of this paper and conclude. I also include an appendix after the Works Cited that contains images of the three handbooks I examined. I need to provide general digital forensic techniques and lead in which a story were written.

THE ESSENTIALS OF DIGITAL FORENSICS

Digital forensics, also known as computer and network forensics, has many definitions. Because of the variety of data sources, digital forensic techniques can be used for many purposes, such as investigating crimes and internal policy violations, reconstructing computer security incidents, troubleshooting operational problems, and recovering from accidental system damage. Digital forensics was a key factor in tracking down a man law enforcement officials say targeted women who advertised massage and other personal services on Craigslist. Connecting the digital dots to catch the “Craigslist Killer”. The dramatic story of how they cracked the case, through a combination of lucky breaks, dogged police work and a trail of traditional and digital forensic evidence. Co-presenters Sharon Nelson and John Simek, president and vice president, respectively, of Sensei Enterprises, a digital forensics, information security and information technology firm in Fairfax, Va., walked the audience through the case step-by-step from the discovery of [Brisman’s] body to [Markoff’s] suicide in jail while awaiting trial in August 2010. (ABA Techshow’s plenary session program). Investigators say digital forensics work was key to tracking down the suspect, according to [Jake Wark’s], press secretary for the Suffolk County, Mass., district attorney's office.

"The technology involved was absolutely crucial in identifying the suspect," said Wark in an interview with Computerworld. "The investigation led to the recovery of an abundance of cellular, wireless and other electronic evidence. "He added that investigators from the Boston police homicide unit were able to link the IP address that was used to send an e-mail setting up the April 14 date with the murder victim to Markoff's home address.[Computerworld]
