Criteria | Comments | ||
+ Strengths | < Opportunities for Improvement
Included a defensible, relevant thesis statement in the first paragraph. | Stated the topic | Poor grammar made it hard to have a clear understanding of your thesis
State, explain, and support the first disadvantage (economic, social, political, environmental, ethical/moral, etc.) to your solution and provide a logical answer. This should be one (1) paragraph. | Did not see a clear disadvantage listed. You referenced politicians seeking monetary gain from temporarily implementing certain laws but I couldn’t decipher a clear disadvantage here
State, explain, and support the second disadvantage (and third if appropriate) (economic, social, political, environmental, ethical/moral, etc.) to your solution and provide a logical answer. This should be one (1) or two (2) paragraph(s). | The second disadvantage listed did not appear to be a true disadvantage. Your paper stated “The lobby group will still oppose some of the solutions. Psychologically, people enjoy when they are allowed to do what they want but when the law's requirements are implemented some will still oppose it.” I was unclear on how this was a disadvantage and what the solution for it would be
Include one or two (1-2) relevant visual and help illustrate an advantage. | Did not note relevant visuals
Use effective transitional words, phrases, and sentences. | Needs a little more work on transitional phrases and sentences
Provide a concluding paragraph to summarize the proposed solution, its advantages, possible disadvantages, and answers to the disadvantages. Repeat or rephrase your thesis statement. | Several good points were made | Your advantages and disadvantages need to be a little more cohesive and it was hard to be clear on how your proposed solution would be implemented and what it exactly was
Develop a coherently structured paper with an introduction, body, and conclusion. | Formatting was pretty good | Overall format was good but needs to be a little more organized in terms of following coherent research and transitioning from topic, to disadvantage, to solution
Use one (1) or more rhetorical strategy(-ies) (ethos, logos, pathos) to explain claims. | Appealed to logic when explaining accident related issues | Need to do a little more on turning facts about motorcycles into valuable information related to the topic in terms of solutions
Support disadvantages and answer with at least two (2) additional quality relevant references. Use at least eight (8) total for Parts 1, 2, and 3 total. | Several quality references listed | Not really clear on the noted disadvantages, seemed more to note “random” facts
10 | Clarity, writing mechanics, and APA formatting requirements (including in-text citations and reference page). | Overall formatting was ok | Lacked clarity, significant grammatical errors, needs better transitioning and clearer presentation with advantages, disadvantages, and solutions |
11 | Other | I think you’re on the right track and you have what appear to be great resources |
