Safety and Health Training Plan

Introduction

Health training of workers is the most critical aspect of any business or company’s safety management system. Training of workers enhances efficiency and creativity which results in increased productivity (McKinnon, 2007). Over the years, the practice has been identified to help workers learn new specific skills and perfect their skills which improves their performance in their current roles and thus it helps to put organization’s safety and health programmes significant. Safety and health training will ensure that employees can maximize their skills as they will be able to reduce illness and injuries and reduced stress on health and safety issues. When workers are aware of safety and health practices, they can maximize their productivity, and thus the firm’s productivity will increase which results in increased profits. The company will be able to compete effectively (McKinnon, 2007). The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and other similar regulatory agencies require the organization to provide Health and safety training to its workers, and it makes it clear when the instruction is needed“Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health, and Environmental Training,”( ANSI Z490). OSHA provides national standards for creating, maintaining and evaluating the health and safety training programmes.

Management commitment

The organization will develop a working program with the help of employees to create space and time to train the workers. It will also finance the training program to ensure that its employees are well-equipped with necessary skills. The organization committed to educating its workers will include the paid work time (Crump, et al., 2010). To attain effectiveness and efficiency, all employees must pretty aware of their roles in the program. Also, to achieve the goals and objectives of the health and training program for workers, they must be mindful of the hazards that need to prevented and different ways to protect themselves. Our organization will achieve these goals through;

  • Training all workers on the health and safety procedures.

  • Equipping workers with hazard identification skills

  • Reminding managers and supervisors of their responsibilities on Health and safety of employees.

Research shows that not all hazards can be eliminated, however, employees can be educated on different ways to protect themselves.

Training and Accountability

To make the training process a success, training measures and rules will be put in place to regulate all activities and ensure that employees are responsible for their actions. Punishments might be issued as one way to motivate the employees. The training process will begin with a clear explanation of the significance of employee training and the need to take safety measures (Crump, et al., 2010). Training will be conducted as per the OSHA’s regulations. Some of the instruction to buffered are;

Vehicular training

All employees operating machinery or slightly motor vehicles will be trained on safe vehicles operations. They will also be equipped with skills to identify hazardous areas as well as ways to stay safe (Crump, et al., 2010). Proper vehicles maintenance will even come in handy. Workers will be shown how to handle various emergencies while on board.

Use of Protective Pieces of equipment

Workers who are highly exposed to high risks requires intensive training to ensure that they take precautionary measures against any form of danger which might occur. Workers will be taught on proper selection measures to ensure that they are fully aware of the risks that surround them as well as reminding them of why they should take precautionary measures. Training will entail clear illustration on how employees should put on the equipment. Research shows that employees often need to be motivated so that they can put on the computer.

Risk identification

The most important aspect of health safety training is the ability to identify risks. Workers will be equipped with skills to help them identify risks and take precautionary measures against them. There is a different way of identifying hazardous areas within machines used in operation. Devices which are faulty should be fixed and replaced, that is the first step in detecting and preventing the occurrence of accidents.

Monitoring the Training Program

Supervisors will be assigned a duty to track the progress of the training program. The workers will be divided into several groups which will be overseen by a supervisor who will examine them and ensure that they are getting all the necessary information. Employees will be assigned tasks to measure their level of progress. Monitoring of the workers is very crucial as it provides information on the abilities of the employees of attaining the goals and objectives of the training. SWOT analysis of the employee's progress will be done.

Evaluating the Safety and Health Training Program

Evaluation will be done on the effectiveness of the training program. Supervisors from the headquarters and OSHA officials will interview the trainees and the trainers to establish the efficacy of the training. The supervisors will tally the outcome with the objectives of the training program. It will entail the evaluation fo the employee attendance at the training classes. A review of the issued assignments will also be done.

Part Two

Type of information to be collected

Employees usually have suggestions on changes pertaining various procedures which need to be adapted to the system.

Types of data to be collected

Employees will always be advised to forward their ideas on forums in which they think will enhance the health and safety system of the company. Some of the information to be collected is based on the level of effectiveness it will impact on the network.

Information on training procedures

Some of the employees usually feel that the training system adopted by our company is not active and they have their suggestions. Such information will be collected on a monthly basis or upon the recruitment of new employees. It will help in identifying the weaknesses and strengths of our current system. Changes will be made upon approval a system which seems more reliable. A control experiment will be conducted on the new suggestions to establish its level of significance.

Safety precaution measures

Some of our employees might feel like the level of safety and health protection we provide to them is not sufficient. Therefore, there is the need to adopt their suggestions on the most reliable system to enhance their safety and give them a sense of belonging. It will motivate the employees and to improve productivity. Decisions pertaining all suggestions made the employees will be made by the top management system of the organization. Employees will frequently be given questionnaire with structured questions on their opinions concerning the health and safety precaution measures (Crump, et al., 2010). All workers will be given equal chances to contribute on the issue after which reviews will be done to identify the most reliable system to be adopted.
