Introduction

Google Inc.

The Google Inc. is an American based technology giant focused towards various internet related services and products. The company was initially founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page on Sept 4, 1998. The Google has acted as a revolutionary company who has bought various innovations in the field of internet and technology. Google majorly includes it’s one of the prime product i.e. it’s Search Engine, all other services and internet based products around this core product. The Google has been powering its consumers by all type of services that may provide benefits to individuals, educators and businesses. Their innovation is influencing the technology in various ways which is capable of bringing inherent revolutions., (Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.).

The Google is dealing in various products like- Google Chrome OS, Android, Search Engine etc. Apart from it Google is also doing well in the business analytics and advertising services through which the businesses and companies may get the benefits of tracking the data related to users, consumers, and ad reaches etc. Some of the products in this sphere include- Google AdSense/Adwords, Google Analytics etc. The company is spread across various platforms of software, communications and cloud computing etc., (Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.).

The Google mission and vision statements clearly describes the company’s aim or mission in terms of providing the services to the society that can literally influence and bring in the revolution in the field of information and technology. The company is aimed towards making information universally accessible and useful to their users. The company is clearly successful in terms of achieving this benchmark of their mission.

Strategies

The Google features a strong strategy in terms of making their products accessible in the market sphere and Internet. The strategies clearly comply with the Google’s view to bring revolution and transformation in the society through information technology. Its mission also clearly influences its strategy in terms of making the information universally accessible and useful to its users and consumers worldwide. The Google was the first product which has created a vast impact in terms of internet and technology, (Thompson, 2015).

The different strategies are as follows, (Thompson, 2015):

  1. Innovation: The Google is totally focused towards bringing in revolution in the technology. It is constantly involved in innovation that results in the new innovative products that are influencing society in various ways. The innovation is the prime strategy of the Google to bring revolution. The products of Google are totally the end-result of innovation.

  2. Uniqueness in Product Line-up: The Google offers unique products to its consumers which are available in every country and region worldwide. The Google also offers various options to different set of consumers. The strategy of uniqueness makes the Google different from its competitors.

  3. Market Reach & Coverage: The Google tends to focus on the worldwide market sphere of internet and various other technology based products. It believes in the strategy of reaching out worldwide so as to create much larger influence on the society worldwide through its products. The market reach as a strategy makes it a popular and preferable company worldwide.

  4. Localisation: The Google is also following the localisation strategy to localise its products among the end-users and consumers. It’s reaching worldwide with localisation and region based marketing strategy to approach the users and consumers. For example- Google has created region wise campaign to market its products, making products available on local languages etc. The localisation strategy is helping Google to gather more consumers and hence the consumers of all background could also adopt technology and products easily, (Moran, 2008).

Goals

The company features various Goals in order to achieve the aims and objectives. The Goals provides the pathway to the company in order to perform tasks and operations that could influence or bring revolution in the information & technology. The Goals also help Google to stay strategically motivated, (Ten things we know to be true).

The various goals are as follows:

  1. Serving satisfaction to consumers: The Google is focused towards serving its consumers who may belong to various backgrounds. The Google always try to focus their products towards different set of consumers ranging from individuals, educators and businesses. The goal of Google is to reach among the consumers through intensive products and services.

  2. Improving Quality: The quality improvement is the major goal which the company possess in order to make the products competitive and beneficial for its users and consumers. The company is totally focused towards improving quality through implementing various ways.

  3. Research and Innovative Products: The Google possesses the aim of bringing revolution into the field of science and technology. Each of the Google’s products is the result of its continuous research and innovation. The innovation as a goal gives Google a strength to bring transformation.

  4. Growth and Efficiency: The growth and efficiency is very important for the company in all aspects. From every aspect ranging from company’s internal structure to end consumers, it implements various ways and strategies that ensure growth and efficiency. The growth and efficiency is another goal which would make the company influential and progressive.

Logistics

The company is primarily located in the United States as it features its headquarters. The Google headquarters which is called “GooglePlex” is located in Mountain View, California which features number of buildings that altogether consists of Google Inc. Headquarters. Apart from the Mountain View, the company also possess other offices in various locations in the United States like- New York, Seattle, Washington, Reston, Virginia Inc. As Google has reached worldwide, it also consists of various offices in more than 40 countries worldwide. It has various offices in countries like- Canada, India, Thailand, Taiwan etc. (Moran, 2008).

The company holds resources like- Supercomputers, Data Centres that is used to process the large number of informations and data which is collected and exchanged with the consumers, businesses etc. The Google also possess various open source technology and products that act as resources for the research and development for Google, (Moran, 2008).

The Google features the amazing workforce which works from various locations worldwide to power and market the products of the company. The Google features more than 47,000 employees in the various locations and offices located in more than 40 countries. The employees work from various countries and possess diversified background ranging from software engineers, graphic designers, business analysts etc. The Google also possess large number of workforce focused towards research and development of its products in order to make the company unique from other competitors, (Moran, 2008).

Anti-Trust Issues

The Google as a tech giant has faced various legal criticisms and issues in the U.S and Europe. One of the important legal issues that are raised on Google is related to Anti-Trust laws on its Search Engine and Android. The Google were booked against the issue of anti-trust as it was being considered that Google is creating domination on the market as a search engine. The Google was alleged of using anticompetitive strategies that are posing a threat to new entrants in the market. The Google was claimed under bundling the products that might create anti-competitiveness in the technology based market. The court has found on the ruling that bundling of various products may pose the threat to competitors in market and is violating the clauses of Sherman Anti-Trust laws that are focused towards fare competitiveness in the market, (McLaughlin, 2015).

Copyright Infringement issues

In the another case, the Google was also alleged of infringing copyright laws in its Google Books product which was focused towards providing e-books to the users. It was alleged that the company is involved in commercialisation of books and works without the permission. But later on Google won the case, (McLaughlin, 2015).

Environment Issues

Power Consumtion control is one os the significant change that Google has made in it’s data centers as well as in offices. The Google was initially criticised for consuming high amount of energy resources for powering its data centres and other offices. Various agencies criticised google for this practice of energy utilisation. But later on the Google has constantly worked towards preserving the energy, (McLaughlin, 2015).

Political Issues

Censorship in China and support for lobbyists in United States are two primary examples of political issues. The Google has faced various political debates due to the imposition of censorship in China. Apart from it, the company was also found supporting various lobbyists in the United States for the meetings. It was also reported that Google has joined one of such group called American Legislative Exchange council. Later on Google chairman Eric Schmidt also stated that it was their mistake to give money to ALEC, (McLaughlin, 2015).

Measurement of Quality/Reliability

The Google ensures quality of its products through number of ways. The Google is more or less focused towards the technology based products, so most of the things work on the technology side. The developers develop the products through coding while the software testers and engineers tests for the quality and reliability of the products. The development and quality works parallel in order to make it quality compliant product. The testers also play influential role in performing tests on the entire software before launching it for the public. The individuals and tech enthusiasts also play an important role in accessing and maintaining the quality of the products. The Google gives the option to its user to report bugs through which the company could solve the problem through real time complexities which user faces on their software or products, (How Google Measures Search Quality, 2008).

The company collect the various data of the users so as to perform the analysis on the data to manage the quality. The Google collects data like- search optimisation timings, result generation and user experience in order to improve their products. Apart from it, they constantly follow mechanisms based on AI algorithms to improve their search engine and various advertising related products, (How Google Measures Search Quality, 2008).

In terms of productivity measures, the company should use multipurpose productivity measures as it focuses on all aspect of the business and output. It includes all factors like- labour, capital, energy etc. This is the best method to measure the productivity of the Google Inc. employees.

Apart from the quality and productive measures, the company also ensures the reliability of the products. The Google focuses on the quality in terms of delivering the products to its consumers. Before reaching to consumers, the products actually go through various tests and checks according to standards which make it reliable to use for the end users. The all aspects of quality measures are ensured by the company which makes it more reliable for the all types of consumers and product users, (How Google Measures Search Quality, 2008).

Competition

Apple, Microsoft, and Facebook are most prominent competetiors in innovation and technology and Google is concerned to meet its operational needs in order to ensure the cost reduction in product launch and wanted to compete through research and innovations. Alphabet is an example where Google is working to meet virtual realtiy expectation since all competetiors and Google itself know, it’s a future of technology and can meet market expectations through opertaional advances, (How Google Maintains Its Competitive Advantage, 2010).

The Google poses tough competition to its competitors as the company gain various competitive advantages. The Google has the ability and vision to make it more influential in the market of technology. The Google is creating its influential stance in every sphere like- communications, internet based services, cloud computing, artificial intelligence etc. There are very less companies which focus on the wide picture like that of the Google.

The innovative services and scope of continuous innovation makes the company different from other company like- Apple, Microsoft etc. The Google is focused towards wide variety of innovative techniques to launch products ranging from wearable to virtual reality. The company also possess wide technology infrastructure, employees and data centres that are capable of catering the requirements of the users in much robust ways than that of the competitors, (How Google Maintains Its Competitive Advantage, 2010).

Conclusion

This is tough question to answer but certainly yes, each company want itself to be at top level in its domain. Similarly, Google expecting to soon launch virtual reality experiences in its products like; YouTube, and Company is also working to move the business with Artificial Intelligence (AI) based system since they think next decade would be for AI based systems only.

Addtionally, Google Inc. is a progressive tech giant which has introduced variety of innovative products in the Information and Technology sphere. The Google has also created a transformation by bringing products that could literally change the lifestyle of the people. In terms of looking its future, the company has the ability to acquire the highest market share with the innovations that could literally shape the company and drive profit for it. The innovation like Virtual Reality, Operating System and Artificial Intelligence may bring revolution in the Technology. On the other hand, the innovation and uniqueness of products will drive the growth for the company in much influencing ways.
