M4A1 - Discussion

The Community Investment Program aims at supporting the eradication of drug abuse. The project recognizes the challenges that has faced the Drug Enforcement Agency, which in essence has derailed its performance. Therefore, the strength of the presentation lies in the recognition of the factors which have worked against the efficiency of the Drug Enforcement Agency. One of the most outstanding and derailing challenge is the rebellion and lack of trust; there is no cordial relationship between members of the community, especially the youths, and the enforcement agencies. The presentation therefore brings forward mechanisms of enhancing the relationship between police officers and the community, through the concept of community policing, so as to strengthen the fight against the production, distribution, sale and consumption of drugs.

The effectiveness of the project will depend on support from different interested agencies as well as proper feedback on the progress of different initiatives. The primary aspects with which support will be required include; the initiation of community policing program as way of addressing drug abuse, initiation of community education programs with regard to negative impacts of drug abuse as well as the essential aspects of community policing, and furthering the desire to improve criminal justice operations in handling drug abuse and distribution cases without the feeling of discrimination among the marginalized groups. These areas also requires consistent feedback on their progress in achieving the desired goals. Furthermore, the improvement of the understanding of the factors which are associated with drug abuse, which include; depression and/or stress as well as behavioral and social complexities. The comprehension of these factors are critical in advancing the fight against drug distribution and abuse; hence a feedback on the regard is essential.
