A good response to others is not something like "I agree." Please find something that you can analyze, add to, critique, explain, disagree with, or something. It should be a few cogent sentences. It should contain something that shows your knowledge of the subject, as well as additional materials you might bring from the web and elsewhere. Apply relevant professional, personal, or other real-world experiences. Supports position with applicable knowledge

You should create substantial responses to your peers. Think of this as your opportunity to teach. Create substantial responses which expand on a point and present information on the topic. Your responses should demonstrate your critical thinking on the topic.

The textbook identifies three distinct subgroups of extremist movements: the Aryan Resistance Movement, Aryan Youth Movement, and White Aryan Resistance.  I selected the White Aryan Resistance to answer this week’s discussion question.

The White Aryan Resistance (WAR) group is one of the gang groups that are realigning the ideologies of white supremacy. The WAR is founded on the neo-Nazi ideology of the white supremacy. The neo-Nazi is based in the US and was founded by famous Grand Dragon, the Ku Klux Klan, and Metzger Tom. The group has been incorporated as a business and is based in the Warsaw in Indiana State (Michael, 2016).

According to me, the White Aryan Resistance (WAR) is a gang. From the beginning, the group was founded to initiate and execute racists’ acts like promoting pro-white states, business and ideologies in the American boundaries. All along, it has been evolving from White Brotherhood. In 1980, the members of the group injured people. The founder then formed another group that was called “California Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.” As many gang groups are, this group harassed the Vietnamese and Hispanic refugees based on the race ideology. After this group, Metzger formed another group (White American Political Association) to propel a white candidate into power inn 1983. Later he reorganized it to White American Resistance in order to give it a "revolutionary" stance. The group changed to White Aryan Resistance and continued with racism propaganda, through social media, newspapers, internet among other means. Like other gangs, the group instilled fear, injured blacks and killed some to gain popularity and drive their political point home. They wanted a white man to be recognized (Michael, 2016).

White Aryan Resistance is a racist group that operates on the ideologies of neo-Nazi. It is a popular gang and it has all the characteristics of gang groups of instilling fear, injuring and killing those against its ideologies.

1. According to you they're a gang, and while that's fine, does WAR meet any significant and substantive definition of gang?

2. I chose to look into the White Aryan Resistance (WAR) for this post. I cannot conclude that the origin of this groups constitutes as a gang.  They did get involved with criminal activity and have tied together. However, I did not see where they were sticking together for protection or any other reason other than hate.  So I would say they would be more of a hate group than a gang.  However, there was a gang calling themselves WAR in an Arkansas prison that seems more like a gang. For them, in prison, I think this would be more of a gang group, but they are not affiliated with the original group that was formed by Tom Menzer a former Ku Klux Klan member.  He proved to be more violent than the clan wanted so he branched off to make his chapter of the KKK before starting the WAR group. So, in my opinion, this group of neo nazi's shouldn't be considered a gang because their history is sketchy and they have no real organization to structure themselves as such. Being that they are driven more off of hate instead of recognition, protection, and wealth, I don't think they could be categorized as such.  Although in y research I found a website where Tom Menzer is still abusing his freedom of speech rights to spread his hate propaganda.

3.Believing if the white supremacy Aryan Youth resistance was a gang is the question. Do I believe they are. Yes. In this course we have described a gang as an organized group of criminals. Further than that we can say a group with similar outlooks or goals to achieve what they believe in a criminal manner.

The White Aryan Resistance, a group created by Tom Metzger. A man who is defined as a Grand-Dragon and was broadcasted on many famous networks for his views of propaganda and racism. His son John operated the gang at age twenty. The goal of the group was "Racial Revolution" (U.S. Department of Justice, Youth and Violent). They committed hate crimes and mostly harassed Hispanics and African Americans. The belief that all White were superior to all other races was a man motivator for the group. Based on the numerous beating given to different non-white people, the group can be considered a gang based on its crime.

This white supremacy group is said to be a revolution. The view of the group shows me criminal behavior and a hate group. This group commits acts of violence and has organized over time. The only display I see of not being a gang is the fact that they cite propaganda to the members and non-members to get their point across.

Read the following and answer the question below

The raise in the gang groups in the United States of America is a symbolic retaliation on the political system. Several groups like Aryan Resistance Movement, Aryan Youth Movement, and White Aryan Resistance exists. There major aim is to promote a white supremacy ideology which is seemingly brutality against other races in America (Pollard, 2016).

I believe there is a reason to be concerned about the rate at which gangs groups are forming in the United States. In 2011, statistics recorded that the gang groups’ membership was at 1.4 million. The same data indicates that over 33,000 gang groups were operating in America (Melde & Esbensen, 2011). The government needs to worry about this and initiate measure to curb the trend. This is because the groups are harmful to the people and the government operations too. Most of these gangs vandalize public assets and thus bring down the efforts of the government to provide its people with essential services.

Another reason for checking gang operations is because of budget and resource availability. Government spending increases because of these gangs’ activities and many people are losing lives. If not contained, the groups might transform into anti-governmental groups which will promote racism and antagonize the government openly. This will disrupt the heights of democracy achieved in America (Pollard, 2016).

There is need to check the rates of growth of gang groups in the US. Continued growth of these groups is detrimental to the democracy and success of the United States

4. Are suggesting here that the angry white guys and gals are gangs?

5. During the presidential campaign the Donald Trump's rhetoric towards Muslims and immigrants gave hate groups the confidence to come out of the dark. In fact these groups were in the shadows working throughout the eight years of Barrack Obama’s presidency. They knew they could not come out into society, because the nation was more united. President Trump never denounced these groups and they feel they have a president that backs them. The White Nationalists movement now has fuel and this is why we had events such as Charlottesville. The president does not publicly denounce these groups for fear of losing votes. He also, hired people such as Steve Bannon as his chief political strategists. Bannon admittedly is a nationalists and has ties to the Alt Right movement and individuals such as Richard Spencer (Weigel, 2017). These type of people should not be allowed to hold political office let alone be advisors to the President of the United States.

6.    I believe that we do need to be concerned about the nationalist movements that are currently on the rise in many western democracies. Radicals tend to gain power during times of unrest or severe economic problems. The Nazis were able to turn the crippling economic situation in post WWI Germany into a platform to obtain power. We have not reached that point yet, but I believe that we need to start paying more attention to the growing gap between the rich and the poor. If people start to believe that the current system is not going to work for them then they will look for ones that will. That is how the gangs that we have studied up to this point have formed.

That is what has caused the Brexit. The citizens of Britain felt that they were carrying the load for most of the rest of the EU and decided to stop. I do not feel that we have reached a dangerous point, but we are close enough that we need to pay attention to why these types of movements are becoming more and more peoples answer to the problems they see. Groups that are based on hate require a dissatisfied populace to allow them to grow and gain power. We are not on the brink of the Nazis part II, but we should look at why conditions are such that nationalist movements have had so much success recently.
