An idea for the final business assignment topic 8

"Dental supply vendors have a sliding scale for product prices, charging larger dental groups/clinics more their product and small independent clinics less for the same product causing an unlevel business playing field"

Describe a problem you are considering for your action research project, and discuss the following:

  1. Explain your motivation for addressing this problem in terms of why it is significant to the organization.

  2. Explain how addressing the problem could produce positive results for the business, its employees, and customers.

  3. Identify two ethical issues that could be connected to resolving the problem and explain how you would address each issue as part of the problem-solving process.

Regulation of whole sale pricing between dental offices:

Throughout my experience in the dental field, and the opportunity to practice in a variety of different dental offices both private and corporate, I have found that there are significate differences in cost associated with dental products and supplies between offices. This is because venders charge different prices to each office, dependent on the office.

My motivation for addressing this problem in terms of why I think it’s significant to the dental organization (community) is that I feel it will ultimately not only encourage people to maintain a healthier oral hygiene habit, it could increase revenue for vendors and organizations.

If the problem is addressed, some positive results might be that it makes a positive change for all businesses involved including their employees, customers and stakeholders because now more people will have the opportunity to sample the product which could result in them purchasing the products themselves or for others because they liked it. Ultimately this will lead to more revenue for the manufacture/vendor while still encouraging healthier oral habits.

One ethical decision I could explore is the drive for profits and how a doctor may be more money hungry and drive their prices up in order to pocket more money.
