The organization I have chosen is Grand Canyon University. As an employee of this company, I know a lot about the organization and its business structure. GCU is one of the largest if not the largest Christian organizations in the country (it’s a dispute between GCU and Liberty University (Leingang 2018). Despite the growing attention GCU has in the community and around the world, internal problems persist. In the online university department, the turnover rate was in the mid 80% over the last couple of years. The culture of the company is one of love and faith. To receive a great education from a Christian university. The company has had many struggles in the executive department with a struggle to motivate staff, build on the actual model they advertise as the culture of the company and treat employees as part of the team and not just a number. This is a struggle that many big companies have struggled with once they reach certain size. Over the 4 years I have been working for GCU, I have seen many dramatic changes from many employees quitting or being fired in packs each week, to cutting the amount of education you are allowed to get, to promotion being who you hang out with and not what you know or the experience you have. GCU can use an executive coach to revamp the online enrollment department, to build moral and show the staff they matter. There have been changes that have been seen to build moral in the employees, but its limited to the new employees and not the veteran staff.
