Transvestic disorder is one of the paraphilic disorders which is characterized by dressing in the opposite gender’s clothes or cross-dressing so as to become sexually aroused. When people with this type of disorder dress in the clothes of the opposite sex, they experience the sexual excitement as a result. According to researchers there is no limitation of this disorder with respect to gender or sexual orientation, that is both men and women can have the transvestic disorder. Transvestic disorder is common among males as compared to females. Males with this disorder collet the clothing of women including panties, brassieres, nightgowns, lingerie, stocking, women shoes, and other things with feminine look and feel. They dress in these feminine garments and items to get sexual excitement. Many Individuals with transvestic disorder get sexual excitement in seeing others dress in the opposite gender garments.

Many studies have linked paraphilic disorders to criminal justice, but little is done on the association between transvestic disorder and the criminal justice. According to (Schug, & Fradella 2015), paraphilic behaviors are correlated with sexually non-consenting acts and this increasing the risks of sexual offending or sexual crimes. The failure for early identification and treatment of paraphilic disorders increases the risk of sexual violence.

. These studies have concentrated on establishing a link between paraphilic disordered and criminal justice. Thus, it is important to explore an association between individual paraphilic disorders with the criminal justice system. Some study will show the association between transvestic disorder, one of the paraphilic disorders, and the crime.

My interest in transvestic disorder since many studies have linked paraphilic disorders to criminal justice, but researcher have done little with the associate of transvsestic disorder in the justice system. Also, just curious while most researcher have stated that, this type of disorder can’t be treated, but what make this disorder different from any other disorder that can be treated? My belief is that a person with a transvestic disorder can be treated, and need to be treated fair just like any other individual with a disorder. I feel that the Criminal Justice system explanation is to just throw them in prison with any no type of treatment or help.

In conclusion since people with the transvestic disorder, as much as they cross-dress to get sexual arousal, seeing others dressing in the opposite gender clothing also offers sexual arousal. This may trigger these individuals to act in ways which can cause harm to others. Transvestic disorder might be associated with sexual acting out, and this would lead to causing harm and victimizing others. Having the transvestic disorder would lead to sexual crimes. Therefore, this study would establish the validity of this statement.
