SETCADA Strategic implementation and SWOT Analysis

South East Texas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (SETCADA) is a non-profit organization that was started in 1958 with the primary aim of offering treatment services and educational help to individuals affected with drug substances such as alcohol. Treatment, intervention, and prevention remain the mission of the organization. SETCADA has made a vast extension to improve the state of addicts and affected parties. Partnership with the department of the criminal justice in Texas and in Beaumont as well as community collaboration remains the areas of advancement that the organization has benefited. SETCADA has operated in the community for nearly 60 years and has mobilized the community in many ways to make it healthier. The strategies implemented by the organization remain the cornerstone of success by the organization (Bryson, 2018). Precisely, a SWOT analysis will be done about SETCADA to posit how they influence operations within the organization.

Environmental analysis

SETCADA has made significant progress since its establishment in 1958. The internal and external environment has facilitated the organization's progress. Community collaboration as part of the external programs has contributed greatly to help SETCADA in creating awareness among the youth involved in drug and substance abuse. The CCP cooperates with the organization by offering free counseling and community mobilization activities to change the attitudes of the teens in the society. The community forms part of the awareness team that fights against the presence of liquor and vapor stores. As a result, they play a role in ensuring the level of substance abuse subsides through some of the programs initiated. Support by the government through the criminal system helps in raising awareness (Chandra, Stroube, & Willis, 2014). The reduction of criminal activities by rendering the affected or convicted individuals to the organization helps in reducing the level of addiction.

The presence of competitors such as Right Step Rehab has proved to have a massive impact on the implementation of the strategic plans. Competition is healthy, and most organizations want to create an environment of prosperity. SETCADA has partnered with the community and works closely with government agencies to ensure that the strategies implemented to come to fulfillment. When the organization wants to initiate strategies, there is usually a survey of the environment to determine the perceptions of that strategy. Interpretation is made by the relevant persons to identify the strengths or weaknesses prevalent to identify appropriate solutions towards the problem (Bryson, J. M. (2018). Therefore, both internal and external factors help in the implementation of any strategy within SETCADA.

Internally, the organization has systems that are synchronized and well-coordinated. The leadership system of SETCADA enact measures that are in unison with the government. The programs that are within the organization are effectively organized to ensure that the operations are strategical. The policies initiated by the leadership system provide a working environment of progress which is realized when conducting statistical evidence of the number of people who have abstained from taking substances after being guided through the therapy program. The ability to initiate programs through the leadership system and working environment proves that SETCADA has made great strides.

Strengths

One of the company strength lies in the leadership structure of the SETCADA. The structure employs a hierarchical based style of leadership. For instance, there is an executive director, finance director, unity program director as well as the Right choice among other positions. It is through the leadership structure that official duties are performed (Sharma, 2007). The leadership system facilitates coordination of authoritative responsibilities within the organization and beyond.

The community collaboration program has an important role to play to the organization. The presence of such an organ helps in creating awareness as well as creating a positive image to the general public. The ability to transform the attitudes of the attitudes and integrate them into the community helps them realize the implication of consuming drugs and other substances (Sharma, 2007). Through the community collaboration program, there is the presentation that is created for educational purposes which prove impactful to the organization.

The other strength of the organization is the ability to offer residential services to the affected persons. Ideally, most rehabilitation centers aim to have residential zones. However, not all achieve the target. As part of the marketing strategy, residential availability offers competitiveness. The affected individuals tend to be taken through the therapy process until there is a full recovery. Having part-time therapy sessions alters the treatment plan which may lead to easy reversions to the drug taking activities (Sharma, 2007).

Weaknesses

Failure to implement programs is one of the weaknesses of the organization. Most of the programs are reliant on stakeholders. This requires advocacy and fundraising to sustain the program. This is a perfect indication that there are financial struggles in financing some of the operations that promote the organization (Camden et al., 2009). The programs may be community-based.

Uncooperativeness by the affected patients leading low self-esteem among the members. This may affect the morale of the patients as well as some of the staff attending to the patient. Uncooperativeness may affect initiation of strategies.

Integrity is the other challenge that is experienced especially when the patient may consume alcohol and falsify the information. This affects the implementation of some of the strategies as the data gathered may be unauthentic (Camden et al., 2009). Provision of accurate information can help in finding appropriate solutions of any program initiated.

Threats

They face issues from the market where there is no control over alcohol and other substances. This remains a headache to the organization as the number of individuals out of the rehab are exposed to the substances. This often leads to recapping. A recovering person should not be exposed to drugs. However, the act of exposure poses a real threat to the organization.

The presence of competitors within Beaumont and its environment poses a threat to SETCADA. As a non-profit organization, the organization tends to lose patients to other neighboring organizations. This affects operations as there can be a limited number of people to be taken through the process.

Jefferson County and Beaumont are located within the greater Houston area that is close to the Mexican border. Drug trafficking has led to an influx of drugs within the region. Apart from the community providing no control, the flow of drugs is high leading to a high number of addicts (Chandra, Stroube, & Willis, 2014). These affect the operations and plans within the region.

Opportunities.

Community partnerships are vital as it creates awareness reducing the number of the affected individual. Working in collaboration with the community creates a supportive attitude between the community and the community stakeholders. Their participation in the programs may lead to gain through community fundraising and engagement. Working with the community leads to improvement in the attitudes as well as the understanding of the norms of the society.

SETCADA has partnered with the criminal department to ensure that the drugs consumers are taken through a therapy program. Working closely with Beaumont helps reduce the crime rate and the number of people involved in drug consumption. Since drug trafficking is typical, the presence of the crime department helps in curbing some of the atrocities performed (Rizzo, & Kim, 2005).

Medicaid in collaboration with SETCADA has partnered to ensure that the affected parties can be assisted if they have an insurance policy. Through, the program, any residential patient can be attended to by being under the care program. The presence of the Medicaid improves the program of the organization. Having opportunities such as the insurance policy, crime department, as well as the community, implements strategies useful as the parties will be informed of any action that will be taken (Rizzo, & Kim, 2005). Improving the state of the organization through strategical plans is what gives rise to an opportunity.
