Original Question

For what situations would the Firo-B assessment be most appropriate or applicable for? How is this similar and different from the CPI assessment?

Answer number 1 Penny

The FIRO-B assessment can provide the data needed to help an individual become self-aware of how to act toward others and how that individual would like for other people to act toward them. The assessment can be utilizing to mend and improve and repair broken relationships, by providing great insight into requirements and working relationships to facilitate behavior change when dealing with misunderstandings with management staff and employees to open the lines of communication (CPP, 2018).

One of the differences of the FIRO-B is in the way that it measures, first, is expressed, which is observable and second, is wanted, which is not observable score. Another, the questions are reflected and based on the psychoanalytic theory, which provide good insights into relationships, feelings and sensitivities personally and professionally (Furnham, 1996). The CPI assessment is similar in that it helps individuals view their personal and professional characteristics, motivation and thinking style clearer. Difference is CPI use empirical measure, to compare individual responses and offer different ways to manage themselves and the ability to deal with others (CPP, 2018).

Answer number 2 Christina

The Firo-B assessment is particularly effective when being used to explore feelings more in-depth or to give more insight into relationships, which is similar to the CPI Assessment. They both use questionnaires to do so. However the FIRO-B and CPI assessment differs in that the CPI is primarily used to assess the five personalities of Extraversion, Agree- ableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness. The CPI and FIRO-B also are alike in that they both have a way to measure or define extroversion. Extraversion is the enjoyment of social events and the company of others. While the FIRO-B is focused on how this would effect relationships, the CPI explores all social interactions whether it connected to a relationship or everyday social interactions. It is mainly used to assess social interaction in an everyday social situation and normal everyday life routines as well. The CPI and FIRO-B can also be appropriately in career coaching. Social interaction whether it be in the workplace or normal interactions are key qualities of a leader that these assessments can identify. The CPI is appropriate also for vocational testing, and the relationship that exists between how different personalities react in certain social settings. Vocational testing can be important for recent grads, because it allows them to see what area may or may not interest them.
