Students are to observe two or more adults unknown to the observer. The student must not be able to hear the subjects being observed and those being observed must not be wearing a uniform of any kind as this would provide information about their occupation to the observer. Students must describe the environment and the people being observed, i.e., age, gender, dress, etc. Discuss the nonverbal communication, i.e. eye contact, body position and any other nonverbal behavior. Provide your interpretation of the relationship between those being observed. Be very discrete and do not have a conversation with those being observed

I encountered a heated up conversation between two young adult men in their 40's in my office space. As they were standing outside the workspace area which is enclosed with a glass wall, I was not able to hear any words that are exchanged. Since I was seated facing the glass wall, I got distracted each time they both did big bodily moves during their conversation. After a while, I started becoming curious to know what is being discussed as it looked more like a fight between them. So I started observing, later another person, this time another male probably in this 30's arrives at the discussion ground and he started to talk with the same expressions and body language. All three were in formals or semi-formals as they were in the office with they ID tags on and one even had a laptop in hand.

As this continued for more than 20 mins, I started observing their body language to see if I could understand anything at all. It was so involuntary that I didn't realize that I started observing and mind wanted to know what is going on. The main reason behind my curiosity was due to the fact that this scene is happening right outside my workspace and there could relevant information about the project I am working on. As time went, I noticed significantly tension in each of their faces and each trying to prove something to other. The conversation was so focused that neither of them took their eyes off from looking at one another and explaining their points.

As one of them was trying to show something on his laptop, this could be something project related. If this was recreational, then the tension on their faces doesn't make any sense. It could be Some sort of project related error or mistake committed and they are trying to resolve it. My mind started questioning me what if this a serious mistake and has dependencies with my project? What if something got seriously screwed up and I didn't know it yet?

After a while, one among them started nodding his head in a manner that the point under discussion was understood with a smile on his face. Is he the one who did the error and understood now after their conversation? or is he the one who is trying to explain someone's mistake? Is the person who is responsible for such heated up conversation is even there among them? Or are they pick and reporting on someone?

After this, I couldn't sit on my desk and started walking out to grab some water but my main focus was to see what is going on. Only then I understood that one of the three ordered a product online and was scammed. He was trying to explain that to the rest of the group. All those while he was explaining how he got scammed and lost a great sum of money to a hacker.

Even though my observation was correct on the part that the three had a heated up conversation, sitting behind a glass partition I wasn't able to exactly spot what was it all about. But I learned quite a few gestures that were exchanged during a conversation that involves frustration, anger, worried and disappointed. All three were equally frustrated which could be because the other two came across such situations before and venting out their anger as well.
