  1. What is the work-related problem you will be addressing?

The work-related problem that I will be addressing how police officers are unappreciated within the society yet they sacrifice so much to ensure the security, peace, and order are maintained within our communities and neighborhoods.

  1. State your argument that addresses this problem. Feel free to look back at your course notebook, which is accessible using the "course tools" button. Remember, your argument may have changed now that you've conducted more research.

Security, peace, and tranquility are primary elements for a society that needs to thrive socially, politically, and economically. Different entities in the country are dedicated to ensuring that these elements are prevalent in our neighborhood and communities. Police officers are the central drivers to the continued neighborhood security, peace, and tranquility. As such, police officers should be recognized as fundamental to the continued growth of our society and thus they should be greatly appreciated.

  1. What is your first reason or major point why your audience should be persuaded by your argument? Can it be supported using the research you've conducted so far? Briefly identify the research you will use to support this point.

First, police officers act as the prosecutors of the defenseless and the weak in the society. Over the years, besides investigating crimes, police have come to take over the role of prosecutors. Research indicates that police officers have often stood up for the defenseless, ensuring that justice is reached even in courts even when prosecutors are not willing to defend the weak in the society.

  1. What is your second reason or major point why your audience should be persuaded by your argument? Can it be supported using the research you've conducted so far? Briefly identify the research you will use to support this point.

The second major reason is that the police officers have a straightforward and yet complex task of maintaining law and order, protecting the public and property through their mundane role of detection, investigation, and prevention of crime. Research indicates that police perform two policing tasks, that is, low policing and high policing. In these two policing tasks, they use technological and human apparatus to respond to criminal incidences, reassurance, order maintenance, and community engagement.

  1. What is your third reason or major point why your audience should be persuaded by your argument? Can it be supported using the research you've conducted so far? Briefly identify the research you will use to support this point.

The final point is that police officers sacrifice their own lives, risking getting injured or losing their lives only to keep us safe. Recent research indicates that over 900,000 sworn police officers exist in the US. Since the year 1791, over 21000 police officers have been killed in their line of duty. During last year, 129 police officers died while in line of service. Similarly, this year, about 66 police officers have died while serving their dear country. The duty of law enforcement is deadly and demanding, yet, these loyal and patriotic men and women in uniform continue to serve with unending faith and love for the country.

  1. Thesis Statement

Police officers play an indispensable role of protecting, maintaining peace and order, acts as prosecutors of the defenseless and weak in the society, and risk their lives in their line of duty when dealing with criminals and hazardous situations or events. Therefore, police officers should be recognized as fundamental to the continued growth of our society, and thus, they should be greatly appreciated.
