Start your introduction here. APA 6th edition does not use a heading title for the introduction because its position in the paper identifies it as the introduction. Open your paper with a foreword to set up your paper. One or two paragraphs are sufficient. You will identify the purpose of the paper and what will be presented.

Level of Risk

Examine the level of risk a school counselor should assign in this case. You want to clearly articulate your understanding of specific risk assessment strategies, signs and symptoms of personal substance abuse or those related to living in a home where substance abuse occurs. It is important to support your examination of these items with evidence from the literature.

Collaboration with Community Resources

Examine the strengths and weaknesses of intervention strategies used to connect a family with community resources. In this discussion, include specific strategies a school counselor can use to transition a student back into school after a crisis. Again, in order to score beyond basic or proficient you must support your analysis with evidence from professional journals and Web sites.

Multicultural Perspectives on Risk Assessment

Assess the strategies used in risk assessment from a multicultural perspective. Take into consideration potential long-term effects, identify potential barriers and recommend specific strategies to overcome the challenges identified in your discussion. Be specific here! The criteria for scoring “distinguished” here means you need to include future preventative measures. Be certain that you are supporting your discussion with evidence from the scholarly literature.

Conclusion

Now, tie it all together and bring the analysis together in a strong closing. Articulate for the reader why it is important for school counselors to know this information.

To set up the reference section, center the title, References 1” from top of paper.

Then, to set up hanging indents for the reference section, put your cursor on the first line where the first reference will begin, select Format, then Paragraph, then select the menu that says Indents and Spacing, select the menu box that says Special and choose Hanging. Then set the box that says by at 0.5”. Keep the line spacing set at double, which gives double spacing both between each individual reference and within each reference.
