2-2 Final Project Milestone One: Introduction

Coca-Cola is an American corporation and a respected company worldwide. It is also the largest beverage company in the world (Bodden, 2009). Accordingly, the company acquires expert consultants every year to advice on how the company can continue to ensure its future success in its current market. I have been hired as a consultant by Coca-Cola. Therefore, I will analyze and develop methods that the company will use in ensuring its future success.

Additionally, I will examine the market and business data. The data will help in explaining how the core microeconomic principles and measures impact the sustainability of the firm that it can take to ensure success. The purpose of this paper will help in developing the methods that can be used in increasing its success rate and ways that can be used in reducing the impact of macroeconomic principles.

History

John Pemberton who was a pharmacist founded Coca-Cola. After fighting in the civil war, he decided on inventing something commercially. In 1886, he created a tasting soft drink that was distinct from others. The soft drinks could then be sold at soda fountains. Later, Asa Griggs bought the business and developed marketing tactics that led to its dominance in the 20th century (Bodden, 2009). The trade secret for Coca-Cola is that the drink’s name is originated from the ingredients; coca leaves and kola nuts. Through the years, Coca-Cola was able to introduce other beverages such as Coca-Cola Zero sugar, Coca-Cola Vanilla, and Diet coke among others.

Coca-Cola has managed to be the leading organization in non-alcoholic beverage brands. It had more than 500 non-alcoholic beverage brands including beverages such as; Fanta and Sprite among others. Its products are available all over the world. Other products include; Dasani, Georgia, Minute Maid, Powerade, Hones, Smart Water, Simply Orange, Odwalla, Peak, Zico, and Surge among others (Lopez, 2012).
