Brack, C. E., Rochat, R. W., & Bernal, O. A. (2017). “It's a Race Against the Clock”: A Qualitative Analysis of Barriers to Legal Abortion in Bogotá, Colombia. International perspectives on sexual and reproductive health Review, 43(4), 173-182. doi: org/10.1363/43e5317

This article critically analyses the implications of the Columbian Court precedent on the practice of abortion in the country. The authors show a mastery of the topic, and coherently lay down their ideas using sound writing mechanics. Of special importance is how the issue of legal hurdles is analyzed concomitant with the underpinning dilemma that laws against abortion only serve to make the practice unsafe(Brack, Rochat & Bernal, 2017). This article is a must-read for any scholarly adventure aimed at exploring the implications of legal barriers to the procurement of abortion. However, for a thorough understanding of the moral implications, it is best to explore other studies as well.

Campillo, I. S. L., Meaney, S., Corcoran, P., Spillane, N., & O’Donoghue, K. (2019). Risk factors for miscarriage among women attending an early pregnancy assessment unit (EPAU): a prospective cohort study. Irish Journal of Medical Science Review, (1971- ), 1-10. doi: org/10.1007/s11845-018-1955-2

This seminal article aptly captures the threat associated with miscarriages in women attending an early pregnancy assessment unit (EPAU). It is inspiring how the authors profess a mastery of the scientific method, its principles and sound research genre writing mechanics. There is also a commendable use of authentic sources throughout the article. The problem of vulnerability to miscarriages is also analyzed in-depth, which shows that the authors have done critical observation and analysis of the topic (Campillo et al, 2019). However, the exploration does not end in wholesome findings, as the authors ignore the implications of maternal and psychological factors affecting women. This article is, however, a useful source of understanding of the dynamics that characterize women who seek abortion especially for a pedagogic discourse aimed at exploring the dispensation from the roots.

Stewart, H., McCall, S. J., McPherson, C., Towers, L. C., Lloyd, B., Fletcher, J., & Bhattacharya, S. (2016). The effectiveness of peri-abortion counseling in preventing subsequent unplanned pregnancy: a systematic review of randomized controlled trials. J Fam Plann Reprod Health Care Review, 42(1), 59-67. doi: 10.1136/jfprhc-2014-101096.

This article critically and analytically explores the benefits of prevention measures such as counseling and contraceptives in ameliorating the abortion crisis. The authors are largely persuasive, but also show a revived use of primary sources. In addition, the writing itself is coherent, the format is articulate and the scientific methodology is exceptional. The authors employ a quantitative data analysis methodology to help analyze the complex relationship between abortion, counseling, and contraceptives (Stewart et al, 2016). The author, however, shows very little apprehension of the cultural and religious implications of the variables they sought to test. Their account and findings are however wholesomely intriguing and confirm issues pertinent to the discourse. It is hence a useful article in building an interventionist approach to the issue of abortion away from the moralistic continuum.
