Assignment Description

Primary Discussion Response is due by Friday (11:59:59 pm Central), Peer Responses are due by Tuesday (11:59:59 pm Central).

The discussion assignment for this week includes a review of the Key Assignment Outline (your IP document for weeks 1 through 3) completed by one of your classmates, as well as a substantial response to at least 1 other student.
Primary Task Response: Your first task is to post your own Key Assignment Outline to the discussion area so that other students are able to review/critique your plan. Attach your document to the main discussion post, and include any notes you feel are appropriate. The purpose of this assignment is to help improve the quality of the Key Assignment Draft you will complete next week.
For this Discussion Board, students have two tasks:

  1. (Primary Task) Students must post the draft of their Key Assignment that they have completed so far for peer review/critique. There is an expectation that grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format are correct and professional. This must include, at a minimum, week’s one through three content. Students may include week’s four content if they have developed the material and feel it is ready for critique.

    • The advantage to including the content for week 4 is that it allows the student access to another review of that week’s content before it is graded by the instructor, for official IP4 grading.

  1. (Responses to Other Students) Students must review and provide feedback to a minimum of at least one peer. More details below.

Responses to Other Students: Respond to at least 1 of your fellow classmates about their Primary Task Response regarding items you found to be compelling and enlightening. Refrain from general feedback, such as simply stating "good job." Your assignment is to provide a detailed review/critique. Your feedback to other students is most helpful if you not only point out weak areas but also offer suggestions for improvement. The best feedback takes a three-stage approach to identify what was done well, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.

To help you with your discussion, please consider the following items:

  • Students should be kind but honest. Students should consider how they would appreciate receiving feedback: the tone and language that is best to use.

  • Feedback given should enable students to improve their papers.

  • Feedback should incorporate both technical and administrative (i.e., APA, grammar, etc) suggestions.

    • Some students may feel awkward or uncomfortable providing a critique of another student’s work, however, this is a skill that many employees need in a business environment. Furthermore, if students keep the goal of helping another student improve his/her paper in mind, the student providing the critique is actually assisting the other student to create a better deliverable/paper.

  • Questions to consider:

    • Is the text easily understandable?

    • Are the assignment requirements met?

    • Does the paper flow or does it seem choppy and disjointed?

    • Does the student use APA appropriately? Are the references correct?  Are the APA in-text citations correct?

    • Does the student have grammatically mistakes?  Is the punctuation correct? Are there spelling errors?  Does that create difficulty in understanding the submission?

    • Is the format correct and professional?

    • Are the technical points articulated well?  Are they correct? Are there any omissions that would aid in understanding the topic?

For assistance with your assignment, please use your text, Web resources, and all course materials.
