Emergency Preparedness is known to be the discipline of dealing with and avoiding both natural and man-made disasters. It involves mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery in order to lessen the impact of disasters and public health threats. Emergency preparedness requires a partnership among all levels of government (local, State, and Federal) and the private sector (business and industry, voluntary organizations, and the public).

Emergency preparedness deal with different types of threats, natural and man-made disaster. The natural threats include wildfires, floods, earthquakes, volcanoes, and tornadoes (Jouini, Rabai, & Aissa, 2014). Wildfires can occur in any forested are. Earthquakes are most prevalent along the plate edges and along faults. The edges of the oceanic and the continental plates are also common susceptible places for earthquakes.
