The instructions are attached along with the assignment

1. Describe the DHS mission area “Prevent terrorism and enhancing security”

This is asking you to paraphrase the mission of the federal agency in relationship to its role in mitigating terrorist acts and increasing the sense of security the public has about our nation in general. The focus is federal

2. Considering the base simulation in Module 1 Case and SLP, discuss how this simulation can be extended by enhancing the mission area for “Prevent terrorism and enhancing security.” (Hint: Compare to a current Emergency Operations Plan. Some scenario examples in this area include an active shooter, weapons of mass destruction, and conventional weapons.)

For question two you are returning to the Simulation and the disaster it outlined. Your focus is on the LOCAL incident. You are asked to link the FEDERAL mission area that prevents terrorism and enhances security and connect that CONCEPT to the LOCAL environment. This means that you need to analyze how a terrorist incident could happen in tandem with the simulation. This is a reasonable expectation since tsunamis follow earthquakes and fires follow floods with electricity mixes with water, or landslides follow fires because the land looses vegetation that absorbs water, etc. There are many tandem disasters. So what happens if there is terrorism or a security breach after this simulated local flood? What if an active shooter came to the shelter cause he was stressed by the event? What if a release of anthrax happened like it did just after 9-11? What happens if gangs form post flood and act as vigilantes? There are any number of security and terrorism issues that could happen in tandem.

Planning is always for All Hazards, so implementing the comprehensive emergency management plan for the scenario is the starting point. They have already applied it to a flood, now you are expanding the response operations to a terrorists or security incident with the same plan.

3. Include references to some recent terrorism examples and the impact upon the people, community, or region.

Unfortunately there are too many examples that you can call on for this third question.
