Presentation (30%)

Work Experience Presentation

  • Time: 10-12 minutes (including questions and answers)

  • Possible attendees: Faculty mentor, Work Experience Supervisor, English faculty, other students

  • The presentation is usually in the College in the first week following work experience.

  • Your College mentor will inform you of the time and place of the presentation.

Topics to be covered:

  • Company information

  • Information sources, equipment and software used

  • Tasks performed

  • Skills used

  • Workings with others

  • Challenges or problems in the work place

  • Personal development

  • Summary and reflection

Students should be aware of all presentation techniques including:

  • Correct English

  • Body language and posture

  • Including all the required information

  • Using the notes to present the topic, not just reading

  • Keeping the audience’s attention

  • Visual effects (design, images)

  • Time management

  • Managing the audience’s questions or interruptions

  • Always have a conclusion

Preparing for the Presentation

  • Work with a friend. Practise giving your presentation. Your friend can help you improve your presentation and ask you questions.

  • Use the assessment form on Page 9 to help you prepare.

  • Use your logbook to help prepare the answers.
