Part One

Sarin and O'Connor explain some of the strategies that can be employed by an individual so as to become effective leaders. The article has also explored the strategies as well as the management styles which are likely to make effective leaders in the present world.

There are several dynamics that are associated with teams. Leading a team is a complex process that requires the team leader to be innovative as well as one with skills of leadership. A leadership style that is demonstrated by managers greatly affects the team's output (Iqbal, 2011). With an insight into some of the management styles that have been explained in the article, the following are some of the lead management styles effective in leading a team.

Democratic leadership

In this leadership style, the leader encourages democracy such that even the lower team members can contribute towards the performance of some tasks within the teams. This leadership style is effective in ensuring that teams fully incorporate the views of everyone who is involved within the teams in an organization (Shikhar & Colarelli, 2018).

Directive leadership

In this type of leadership, the managers and leaders direct the teams based on the requirements in a particular situation. The leader is fully involved in directing the team members with the aim of ensuring that they get to understand the tasks that they are supposed to perform.

Participative leadership

In this leadership style, the leader is fully involved in some of the tasks that are to be performed by the teams (Adeniyi, 2007). The leader, in this case, participates in the management of the tasks and duties that have been assigned to the teams with the overall objective of ensuring that the outcome of the teams is very effective.

Part 2

Charisma is an attribute that an effective leader ought to have. This is because it is through a charismatic attitude that a leader is in a position of bringing the team members together towards ensuring that they get to achieve the desired outcomes for the team (Stutje, 2012). Teams usually have targets that they should meet after a given period of time. I have ever worked for a charismatic leader. This was during one of the construction projects that I was involved in. The leader I am referring to in this case is the project manager, Mr. John Brown.

He was in a position of bringing together the team and ensuring that during each phase of the construction, the project was directed in a smooth as well as effective manner (DeRue et al., 2010). Brown ensured that the aspect of motivation to the team members was the fact that the project was completed and that the quality was strictly adhered to. Brown also demonstrated charisma in that he encouraged communication among teams in ensuring that the project was delivered effectively (Northouse, 2013). Brown administered the directing style where he would at times be personally involved in ensuring that he gets to demonstrate how he required some of the essential aspects of the project to be handled. For sure Brown was effective in leading the team because he was liked by all members of the construction team especially because of the fact that he enabled each member of the team a chance towards self-improvement.
