i needed 2 to 3 pages on check out the yellow part of the sample paper that i have attached I have attached the previous assignment I have attached the guideline for this paper.

This is Part III (Research Design/Methodology) of the Signature Assignment. The following details are to guide you in developing your paper.

  • Discussion of ethical considerations (including IRB approval) for the proposed paper.

  • Description of how the proposed research will be carried out. Details required for this section include how data will be collected, the group or population from which data will be collected, and how potential participants will be selected.

  • In addition, what methods will be used for data collection? (E.g. surveys/questionnaires, standardized instruments, online, in-person etc). How will you ensure that the collection of data is not compromised?

  • How will the results be analyzed?

Outline for Methods Section

Research Design

  • Based on your research questions, state the research approach or method that is the best fit for your paper.

  • Hint: Because you have both “quantitative-type” and “qualitative-type” questions, your research design would have both quantitative and qualitative methods.

  • State the specific quantitative approach – Again review the type of quantitative question you created. What was the intent/purpose of the question? The intent/purpose should help you select an appropriate method. Review the group designs we discussed in class as well as the other approaches – e.g. evaluation research and survey research.

Sample

  • How many people would you like to include in your study. Typically for quantitative research, having a “large” number of participants is preferred.

  • Describe the demographic characteristics of the people – This would include details such as the age or age range, gender, race/ethnicity, socio-economic status, geographic location, etc.

  • How are the people going to be recruited or selected? Review our discussion on sampling – E.g. convenience sampling, purposive sampling, etc.

Measures/Measurement/Instrument

  • Describe what you will be measuring and with what instrument/measure that will be done. Review our discussion on surveys. Also, note that in some cases, there are existing instruments that can be used. For e.g. if you intend measuring depression, the Beck Depression Inventory may be used. In other cases, you may use a survey you created yourself. (For this section, the key thing is for you to describe what measure/instrument will be used).

Procedures

  • If your study involves an experiment or observation, describe how that will be done. Also, describe how you will use the survey or instrument to gather data from people.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

  • Describe ethical considerations you’ll be making for the proposed study. Describe how IRB requirements will be addressed. Review our discussion of IRBs (you may have to refer to your notes from the first two or three class sessions).
