There are many things that interfere with the success of treatment, including that the nature of the disease makes it difficult for those suffering from Schizophrenia to stay consistent with pharmacological treatment. The majority of patients suffer from psychotic symptoms, such as delusions and auditory hallucination s. Others suffer from such disorganization that simple tasks become nearly impossible. Given this symptomatology, consistency with medication is unlikely. ( Smith , 2014, p. 83) Writing Tips  You can omit part of a quote – just use ellipses . . . to show you left something out  You can change the verb tense in a quote to fit the flow of your paper – just use [brackets] to show you changed the word  This is an academic paper, so be more formal with your language than you are in class – No personal refere nces “I, me, my” , no contractions, complete sentences, etc.  Avoid bullet points, lists, rhetorical questions, etc.  Focus on the results of the research, not the procedures used  If you don’t understand the journal article , don’t use it.  You are not a tour g uide. Stay away from saying things like, “Next I will discuss…” or “In the next study they…”  If it’s not common knowledge, if it’s a direct quote, or if it’s a fact from research, cite where you got it from . Go to www.citruscollege.edu and click on library - enter library site 2. Click on "databases" then on the right hand side of page "EBSCO host multiple databases" 3. Type in your ID/password if it asks for it 4. Unclick "ebook collection"; click "psychology and behavioral sciences collection" (leave the others as is) and press continue 5. Make sure the boxes that say "full text" and "scholarly (peer reviewed) journals" are checked 6. Type in key words for your topic. You may have to play around with the wording of things a bit in order to get the results you want 7. Click on the blue title of an article to read the abstr act (a brief summary of the article) 8.
