During the process of this program, there will many things that I will be focusing such as why it is important for immigrant women need to learn how to drive. Throughout this paper, I will be including the purpose of this program and why it’s needed in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The main goal for this program is to provide driving lessons to middle age immigrant women as well as help them with maintaining a driver license.

Introduction

Driving is important because it provides the person the opportunity to be in control. They will be able to go to places such as appointment, work freely and so on. The driving program will focus on immigrant women who need assistance on learning how to drive and then helping them maintain their license. This program will benefit immigrant women in so many ways. When a person has the ability to drive, it will give them a sense of freedom and increase community interaction.

This grant will help middle age women by providing them access for driving education. Because of this grant, they will have a much higher chance of passing their road test. It is very important to have access to driving as some people do not have this opportunity because there is lack of resources and this grant will be an opportunity for those who are in need for driving lessons.

Proposal Summary

There are immigrant women who are unfortunately do not know how to drive or obtain a license. This program will be partnering with global friends' coalition to help teach immigrant women how to drive a vehicle and prepare them for their license test. This grant of $21,874 will be awarded to Global Friends' Coalition and it will be used towards driving lessons.

This program will be working hand in hand with Global friends coalition to create this program that will succeed in helping immigrant women with learning driving. As I have witnessed many of immigrant who experience difficulties in transportations. This program intends to meet the needs of immigrant women who do not have the resources, and this will allow them to have some independency.

For people that come from a different country, driving can be a main issue for them. It is hard understanding on how things work when they come from a different country. Not everyone women have access on driving therefore program like this one will help them become independent and it will allow them to meet their goal. This goal could be driving their own car after they have succeeded on learning during attending this program.

III. Background

On November 15, 2019, in grand forks, North Dakota, I have met with Fatma, a single mother who has three kids. She has expressed some struggles that she has been facing lately. She mentioned that she does not drive, and it is hard to use public transportation. The bus takes about an hour and longer to arrive. Fatma provides for her kids, therefore, she works five days a week and sometimes six days a week. As the winter is approaching, many middle age immigrant women are struggling like Fatma and could benefit from being thought how to drive. I have seen and met many women who are struggling like Fatma and wish they had someone to give them driving lessons.

This program will help many other immigrant women who are experiencing the same struggle as Fatma. It will create an environment that will allow them to gain the education they need. As not all of immigrant women is familiar with driving a vehicle, this program would create a positive impact on the individuals. After meeting with Fatma who a mother and other immigrant’s woman, I have become to conclusion that there needs to be a solution for this current problem. This program will be beneficial in so many ways, such as providing education knowledge to those who are having hard time with driving.

IV. Project Description (Program Narrative)

As this program will partnership with Global Friends coalition, the funding will go to them so they can use it towards the equipment’s and space that are needed for this program. This will be a four-month program and it will be based on teaching immigrant women how to be able to drive and maintain their license afterwards. There will be at least five volunteers and ten female students. This program will be based in a classroom as well as outside of the classroom. The classroom activity will include the individuals learning about driving such as the rules and its regulations of driving before they have access on being behind the wheel. The outside of the classroom lessons will include driving lessons behind the wheel. This will allow the induvial to practice their driving techniques before taking the actual driving test.

Many people lack access to driver’s education, especially those who came from a different country. In some cultures, women are not taught how to drive which creates many barriers in the United States. The outcome of this program is to help middle-aged immigrant women to learn how to drive therefore making them become more independent.

The process will be evaluated by the agency in few different ways. A survey will be conducted on all the individuals who took the test. A Quantitative data will be collected and look at those who have passed their driving test and those who did not. The agency will also ask for input for what worked for them and what did not after the individuals are done with their test.
