>>> Hint: Critical Success Factor <<<
Two scenarios published within the last 5 years
An example of how to do this:
Scenario 1: Pull up the Form 10-K of your favorite U.S. company. Make reference to the reporting and note disclosures of a particular reported item such as Microsoft’s revenue recognition. Discuss how the reporting of that item would differ under IFRS.
Scenario 2: Pull up the published financial reports of your favorite foreign company such as VW. Select an item in the reporting and discussed in the IFRS note disclosures such as VW’s inventory methodology. Discuss how the reporting and treatment of that item would differ under GAAP.
For your work on the presentation you may find this information from the AICPA to be useful as it provides a discussion of a variety of aspects of convergence of GAAP and IFRS with links to other authoritative sources of information. See https://www.aicpa.org/advocacy/issues/us-intlacctprinconvergenceandifrs.html.
Quality Reminder: Please make sure to utilize authoritative research to support your work and please do avoid repurposing slide presentations that can be found on the internet. Instead, use your own words and thoughts and take advantage of this opportunity to develop your creativity and PowerPoint skills to create your own unique presentation!
