The world of today has revolutionized significantly to advancements in technology (Kara Dawson, 2012). Today, almost all aspects of learning have been fully influenced by advancements in technology. Technology has been incorporated in the whole instructional process, hence making it unavoidable in teaching and learning (Kara Dawson, 2012). There are however issues with technology usage in the classroom. Some teachers have not yet fully embraced technology in the instructional process. Some aspects of technology in learning have not yet been implemented by schools and their teachers as they lack adequate knowledge in doing so. Teachers and students have to be trained in the ways that they can use technology to promote better learning and teaching outcomes (Kara Dawson, 2012).

The major question that needs to be answered is whether technology advances or inhibits effective learning by the students. It is worth noting that technology exposes learners to all forms of materials which can either foster good or bad learning outcomes, based on how they use. Through technology, students have a better chance to understand the content in the classroom. Technology makes it easier for students to synthesize, store and retrieve the learned content whenever required. However, in case the usage of technology by the learners in the classroom isn’t monitored effectively, the chances of misusing it are very high (Rector-Aranda and Raider-Roth, 2015).

Technology changes the role of a classroom teacher significantly. Teachers have to understand that the instructional process very different when technology is used (Rector-Aranda & Raider-Roth, 2015). Nowadays, there are different forms of technology that teachers can use to fully achieve the course objectives and goals. Research shows that the application of technology in the classroom boosts the technical skills of the learners; improves collaboration with peers; increases self-esteem and motivation of the learners; improves design skills, and promotes further usage of outside learning resources (Rector-Aranda and Raider-Roth, 2015).

The issue of technology usage in the instructional process affects everyone in human society. It is the role of the educators to come up with the challenges that they face in applying technology in the instructional process (Victoria and Michael, 2019). The inputs of the students also have to be considered when it comes to the application of technology in learning. Educational administrators and the government should join hands and seek the relevant solutions to the problems faced by both the teachers and the learners in the usage of technology. Parents should also advise their children on how they can best use technology in learning. Students also have to be educated on the ethical usage of technology for effective learning (Kara Dawson, 2012).

Researchers have to come up with various strategies to investigate the technical issue in learning and come up with solutions (Victoria and Michael, 2019). The first strategy is finding the root cause of the problem. Secondly, researchers have to listen to all the education stakeholders to determine how best the problem can be resolved. It is not effective to pay attention to the challenges facing only the teachers. The inputs of the students should be considered also. Additionally, researchers should come up with a different approach to carrying their studies and coming up with solutions. Researchers don’t have to rely on the traditional methods of research as they won’t provide better solutions to the problem (Victoria and Michael, 2019).
