Securing Walking Route

Description of the critical path in your project:

The critical path of the project involves the project path that takes the longest duration. The project has the shortest path in securing the walking route which mainly occurs on the last week of the project. The critical path involves the network that includes sourcing promotion and receiving donations. The critical path will mainly comprise of the two months in which the project is expected to last. The oath will start with sourcing promotional equipment which will then have to be sold to the public. The proceeds of the promotion will the main revenue source for the project.

The critical path shows that the project cannot last for at least three weeks. The printing of promotional material will take considerable time before the actual sales start, sales are expected to last to the eve of the event. It is during the same time that donations that are not aligned with the sell of merchandise will be sought. After the sale, the event will take place to raise awareness on ALS.

Description of how your project might be affected by delays in the critical path and how you could get the project back on schedule if such delays happen:

There is a possibility that those contracted to provide the branded merchandize could delay. The organization does not deal in clothing nor does it deal with branding. The contract will be offered to a third party. The completion of the supplies will determine the success of the critical path. It is also possible that the supplier could provide the wrong labels on the requested merchandize. In such a scenario, the organization will have to seek the services of another supplier. It will be prudent to check on the primary supplier to obtain assurances before making the shift. In case of a mistake in labeling, the supplier will have to make the corrections at their expense. The delays will also be minimized if the contract has strict terms. Delay and mistakes will be at the expense of the supplier. That will reduce the possibility of delay sand offer financial compensation when delays occur on the supplier’s end.

Another delay would arise if few merchandize is sold for the event. The aim of the project is to raise $5000 which requires a good sale. Delay in selling the merchandize will impact he success of the project. Delays in selling the merchandize will call for more volunteers to help move the process. It is possible to offer financial incentive to the volunteers to guarantee that the financial goals are reached.

Description of project time and cost estimates and how your WBS impacts those estimates:

The project is expected to cost $ 1000. The budget is set at that amount since most of the activities will take advantage of organizational resources. The budget mostly relates to purchasing and labeling merchandize for sale. The other activities will mostly rely on volunteers. Several volunteers have emerged among the employees to offer expertise and time to the project. The labeling of product will go to a third party depending on their price and quality.

The project is to start on 2/15/2020. And end on 3/26/2020. The project should roughly take one and a half months. The time allotted is ideal since there are very few elements in place. In addition, only one path requires a predecessor event hence the project elements can occur concurrently. The critical path will also require additional time to seek out the donors and sell to willing participants. The merchandize should arrive within three weeks of the start of the project. The sale of the merchandize has an almost unlimited deadline aside from the day of the event. Selling the items should be easy since the office promotions will have informed the employees on the project. The timing will mostly depend on the event but time will be reduced through the concurrent pursuit of unrelated project elements.

The WBS impacts the estimates since it informs the project manager on the related and unrelated items. The relationship of the items will determine the time it takes to complete certain elements. WBS reveals the relationships for planning and budgeting. The WBS will show the possible way of connecting the elements and reducing administrative costs by planning through the established critical paths.

WBS will help in identifying interrelated items in the project. It will eliminate repetitive costs leading to lower cost estimate. The paths created the project will assist in narrowing down expenditure and optimizing of resources. WBS will also help in managing important items that will be prioritized in the time and cost estimates.
