California Gold Rush

The next two weeks you will journey through the California Gold Rush. We want you to have fun with this and also learn along the way. For this assignment you can do one of three things to show your understanding of the California Gold Rush. You can either create a video, a comic strip using Google Slides/Google Drawing, or a Google Doc. You will answer the following questions:

  • WHO-Started the excitement of the Gold Rush? James W Marshall

  • WHEN-It started? January 24, 1848

  • WHERE-Did it start at? Sutter's Mill

  • WHAT-Was the Gold Rush?

  • WHY-Was it so important?

  • HOW-Did it affect the growth in America?

Next, pick a person associated with the California Gold Rush and do a biography of that person. Just describe that person the same way you did the Gold Rush with Who were they, What did they do, Where were they born, Why were they important, and How they were associated with the California Gold Rush. To find a list of the people associated with the California Gold Rush google this topic. Many will pop up like Levi Strauss, Mark Twain, William Waldo, Thomas Wells, etc. You can do this on either a video, comic strip, or Google Doc.

There are a lot of good informational videos about this topic to help, along with informational articles on the Internet. Please turn the assignment in via Google Classroom by April 20, 2020 to your teacher. We are giving you two weeks to do this and to not stress over it with your other assignments/life/technology struggles. This assignment will be worth a total of 50 points. Once you are done with the assignment don’t forget to click turn it in on Google Classroom.
