Good day, I am seeking assistance with a project. The class is Psychology 219 Adulthood and Aging.

Presentation” – due 5/14

Originally we’d planned to have presentations on the last day, on the topic of our habits that we attempted to change during the course of the semester.
Instead, what I’ll ask you to do is send me a short report (could be a powerpoint if you prefer, or a half-page or so of writing). This can still be on the topic of trying to change your habits if you like. Or, you can write your report on how this current pandemic has impacted you. For example- how is self-isolating impacting you psychologically, socially, emotionally? How is the pandemic impacting your mental health?

Below, find two tables with the details of what I’d like you to include, with some examples. Let me know if you have any questions.

COVID-19 report example details:

Three ways in which the current pandemic is impacting your life

For example, struggling to work at home, not seeing friends in person, thinking more about what/when I eat

Has anything positive come out of this?

I hope that when this is done, if we are all not to terribly impacted (not losing friends or family, or getting sick ourselves) that I will find a lot more joy in some every day things. Maybe take fewer things for granted. Right now I would love to just take my kids to the playground, to the beach. I’d love to go get dinner with my husband, or see my dad or my mother in law. I might find more joy in those everyday things in the future.

What is the most negative impact this has had so far?

My family and I are still thankfully healthy, but it does strain my relationship with my kids. Trying to balance working at home, my husband working at home, my daughter trying to do school at home, and my preschooler just wanting to have his usual routine, I find myself in a terrible mood much more often. I have to very consciously work on maintaining my mental health (keeping anxiety low) so that I can keep

Connect one of these changes to a topic we discussed in class.

For example, we discussed the importance of social interaction on our happiness and health- has reduced social interaction impacted you?

How you think you’ll change after the pandemic is over.

For example, seeing friends more often, changing your career plans, etc.

Habit report example details:

Your three habits you wanted to change, and why.

For example- I planned to do 25 minutes of exercise/ 5 days a week, walk 10K steps per day, and meditate 5 minutes per day.

How you kept track of your habits

Using an app, writing it down

Success (or lack of success) on your changes

Generally successful for the first few weeks of exercising and walking (talk about why, when things change)

Connect one of your habits, your desire to change it, and why you were successful or unsuccessful, to a topic we discussed in class

I hope to continue exercising because it is important for my mental health and my cognitive health- it reduces my stress, I feel better when I do it, and it reduces anxiety. Also, we’ve learned about how exercise is good for our cognitive health, and keeps our brain healthier. I am concerned about dementia and this is a step I can take to hopefully protect myself from it.

Future approaches

It has been harder to exercise while trapped at home, and I’m doing less walking. I hope by the summer, if the pandemic is done, that I can return to exercising more. I plan to work on this with my husband, having someone who holds you accountable helps keep you on track.
