Introduction

Information taken from the model population will lead to the development of different variables that will be useful by the organization in making decisions based on data. Organizations use data provided by their stakeholders for proper implementation of the project. The selection of data determines the accuracy of the project as anything that goes wrong with the sample collected will reflect directly in the final results. It is thus critical to collect proper information from the required sample space to ensure that the results will not be misleading (Shaughnessy 2017). The information provided below describes the sample population of Qantas Airline Company and the usefulness of data provided by different persons in the implementation of the project.

Qantas Airline Company is among the prominent airline companies in the world and is the top linear commercial Airline in Australia. It is thus considered the biggest airline considering its size of the fleet. The company is looking for ways and means to improve the productivity of its services, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is considered as a better option. This system will assist in managing and running fleets, which will be beneficial for the institution. The system contains a sequence of concentrations that are channeled to heighten efficiency and increase performance using technology (Shen et al. 2016). It comprises sections that are working, which involve system configuration for data packages to enhance efficiency in the running of business operations. The objective is to find out the influence of the ERP system inside Qantas Airways Limited Company. Thus, we will identify various challenges that the organization is facing that can be improved by adopting this software.

The Problem

Qantas Airline Company projects on the implementation and management of resources, and it has been a challenge in installing this system software.

  1. Bad decision-making procedure

The organization is facing a challenge in making informed decisions, thereby slowing down the operational activities as approaches apply in making decisions are poor. This is as a result of using traditional methods such as meetings and benchmarking. Implementing ERP is expected to give informed decisions as it gives solutions to the problem through a data-driven decision-making process. This will involve the analysis of data that will lead to useful data for decision making.

  1. Low collaboration levels between employees and management

Qantas Airlines experiences a low level of cooperation as a result of poor communication. Employees are given inappropriate directives on the execution of tasks within a period, which results in impaired operations. ERP solves this challenge by providing a superb stage for timely and quality communication among the staff and management.

  1. Ineffectiveness of controlling process and allocation of resources which leads to low savings.

Resources are limited, and they ought to be utilized appropriately. Mismanagement leads to wasting of resources leading to losses as the savings level is reduced. ERP will help the administration by effective management and allocation of resources in the organization.

  1. Low production levels due to ineffective management of processes and resources that are manual.

Considering the manual undertakings in the organization, the ERP system ensures automation of business processes, which leads to improved productivity and time utility.

  1. Complexity in ineffective management of risk and compliance.

Executing business practices exposes the organization to many risks. The ERP system comes with packages having tools of managing risks such as Disaster Recovery Plan and Business Community Plan. This will ensure the management of risks for the smooth running of Qantas Airline Company.

Enterprise Resource Planning will affect various departments in Qantas Airlines Company. These departments play a critical role in implementing this system and will help run the business in various ways.

  1. Engineering and maintenance

This department is involved in engineering support, line and base maintenance, component maintenance, wheel and brakes, Evacuation systems, Aircraft batteries, ULD services, among others. This department ensures that planes are in good condition and ensure that the airline hardware is performing as it should. Data collected for this research will involve the stocktaking procedure of inventory, usage of tools and equipment, and the different methods of communications used by the department in ensuring the smooth running of the business.

  1. Flight Training

The branch involves giving experience to pilots and airline staff in the execution of plans to ensure productivity and proper service provided to customers. It involves training bases, flight simulation, pilot training, emergency procedures, and human factors. The personnel will provide data based on cost expensed in training the staff and the department as a whole. This department will also describe their communication processes and how it has influenced the performance of staff in providing services to customers. This has more of conflict management and giving of directives by the management.

  1. Government, Industry and Internal affairs

This section ensures compliance with all regulations by the Airline Company. It provides strategic and technical assistance to progress the Qantas Group’s diverse business objectives. It is responsible for ensuring proper relations among all stakeholders of Qantas Airways and advocates for the human rights of the staff. This department is essential as it will assist the project in identifying the various challenges in internal affairs and ways the department has reduced conflict between the organization and stakeholders such as employees, shareholders, and the government.

  1. Procurement

It is responsible for maximizing shareholders’ value from all supplier relations. The department procures noteworthy amounts of goods and services oscillating from airplanes to stationary. The section ensures that supplied goods are of use by the airlines and will lead to the success of operations. The department will provide the procurement methods and how it has utilized ‘opportunity cost’ in ensuring no wastage of resources

  1. Qantas Centre of Service Excellence

This department is in charge of recruiting, inducting, learning, and developing programs and service training. It is responsible for creating a customer experience to the staff to ensure proper service handling and addressing customer complaints in the best possible way. The department will provide employee turnover data and the impact of staff training on performance. This will assist the management is looking at loopholes in the execution of programs by the staff.

  1. Qantas Ground Handling and Fixed-Base Operator (FBO) services.

This department provides reliable ground handling and FBO service to many clients, including private operators, Australian and Foreign military, and charters for official guests in the Australian Government. The airline is capable of handling a variety of aircraft, which will be handled by professional ground handlers. The department will provide information on communication protocols and how employee safety cost and methods.

Data collected for research may be biased as some of the staff are loyal to Airlines and may provide false information. Moreover, the researcher should note that not all personnel know the essence of collecting the data and may provide misleading information (Washington et al., 2020).
