In “This Entrepreneur Launched a Successful Business Helping Kids with Autism

Reaume (2019) reports a story of a woman entrepreneur called Phelps. Phelps dreamed to build a clinic that helps people who are disabled when she was young, and her dream finally comes true by setting up Engage Behavioral Health — a network of clinics. She was in fear and unsure about the future, since it is a quite new business and she and her staff are not familiar with each other and this business. To overcome this problem, firstly, she chose to build trust between she and her staff. She spent time to monitoring them and let her staff tell her everything even things that they messed up. Then, she was aware that company culture is important. She also said that it is important to achieve a balance between family and career. I agree with Phelps that company culture is very important role to management. Staff are hard to follow and do things in the way that a company needs if they are not familiar with what a company needs. The system that telling staff what the company is like and what the company needs can be considered as business culture.

The interview report called “At Red Rabbit, A Former Wall Street Trader Tries to Make a Profit Selling Healthy School Lunches” tells us a story about Rhys Powell who starts a business of making lunch for children. He decided to run such business, since he realized that children in community is hard to get healthy food. He finds that it is a little bit struggle to meet needs of children, parents and school. In the first year, he fails to make the business profitable, since sales were sluggish and costs were high. Then, he realizes that schools are better customers, so he tries to persuade school to buy his meal by constructing relationship-building and trust. He finds inventory management is really important to his career, so he uses his computer science background to track food inventory efficiently. In terms of hiring, he said that people employees should be corresponded with things that the company should do. I think that Powell is clever to start such business, since it is a business that everyone needs, but not everyone would give thought to. To run the business, people should make sure who is their target customers. People should provide products that target customers needs instead of just thinking about quality.
