Essentially, the charismatic leader and the transformational leader are both likely to be associated with personal power. Personal power is obtained from followers and is based on the leader’s behavioral influence (Lussier & Achua, 2016). First, one of the most crucial aspects of charismatic leadership is the influence leaders have over followers to rally them toward a common goal. In this case, the leader relies on the followers’ implicit belief in the affective qualities of the leader to convince them to pursue the goals in questions (Lussier & Achua, 2016). Therefore, charismatic leaders obtain their power from their ability to influence followers by relying on leadership behaviors that inspire belief or confidence; this is a credible example of personal power. 

On the other hand, transformational leadership focuses on changing the status quo by addressing current problems and providing a compelling vision of a better future to the followers. The leaders have to convince the followers that the vision will institute effective change; this means that they have to draw their influence from the followers. Therefore, given that personal power s drawn from followers based on pertinent leadership behavior, transformative leaders have personal power. 

In addition, some aspects of transformative leadership are also associated with position power. Position power is drawn from top management and delegated across the chain of command (Lussier & Achua, 2016). Arguably, a transformative leader needs a considerably powerful position in an organization or society in order to challenge the status quo. Therefore, position power constitutes a credible source for the kind of influence needed to make a substantive change: change is a critical aspect of transformative leadership.

Charismatic leader earns authority and power through leaders’ charisma. The charismatic leader uses his charisma to engage the audience and thus gather a group to follow the leader. At the same time, Transformational leaders and charismatic leaders drive us to the changes , these changes move us forward and make progress our life. “Transformational leadership seeks to change the status quo by articulating to followers the problems in the current system and a compelling vision of what a new organization could be” (Lussier & Achua 2015).

            I think the types of power that the charismatic leader and the transformation leader associated with are the ability to empower followers, ability to inspire trust and believe in change. There are many examples of transformational and charismatic leaders who changed our lives, such as the leader of the United States in John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King. Kennedy was president of the United States from January 1961 until his assassination in November 1963. A president who fought for civil right and proposed legislation that led the nation to end discrimination against African Americans. He wanted all American to gain equality, no matter what their colors are. Also, Martin king ended racial discrimination for African American in Public transportation, employment, voting and education. We all remember his remarkable speech when he said” I have a dream” which inspired millions of people across the united states 

I think the most powerful characteristics that transformational leaders and charismatic leaders use are their abilities to empower followers and abilities to inspire trust. Leaders are able to deliver their messages to their followers who believe they can accomplish changes with followers.
