EVALUATING THE EVALUATION CONCEPT

Organizations need to adapt and assess their activities to ensure that they are effective and will achieve the set objective. This helps in identifying potential areas the organizations can improve. Evaluation is the process of examining a program. It involves accumulating and scrutinizing information about the activities, features and what to expect from the program (Gilbert 2020). Food For the Poor Incorporation will use external evaluation as explained below.

Internal evaluation is a method of reviewing quality within an institution for its assessment (Tatebe et.al 2019). This means that the organization evaluates its operations without the involvement of external peers. Evaluators are familiar with the work and know the objectives of the organization. Additionally, an internal evaluation will be less costly as compared to external evaluation. The evaluation will also be more effective as persons will be more willing to converse with inside evaluators as compared to external evaluators. Internal evaluation however may consume a lot of time as the opportunity cost may be high. Moreover, an internal evaluation may require skilled personnel in the field of evaluation (Tatebe et.al 2019).

External evaluation is carried out by persons who are not directly involved in the operation of activities being evaluated (World Health Organization 2019). This evaluation is speculated to be more objective as compared to the internal evaluation since evaluators will have some distance from the work. Additionally, the evaluators will be hired thereby ensuring correct evaluations as per their skills and expertise. Additionally, using an external evaluator ensures that the evaluations are more credible. External evaluators however may not understand the culture and the objectives of the organization. Additionally, the persons being evaluated may feel threatened by outsiders which may result in poor cooperation in the process (World Health Organization 2019).

Based on the information provided above, the most appropriate form of evaluation is the external evaluation as it will ensure the objectivity of the project in constructing a training institution.
