Main purpose:

To promote healthy living in students which includes drug-free life, practicing safety and responsibility, and dealing with peer pressure.

Unit objectives:

  • To study the various drugs, their effects on the body and to other people, and various ways of dealing with drug abuse through prevention and intervention.

  • To learn about safety in terms of taking care of the body in general, and also the responsibility required to maintain one’s health in good condition.

  • To study about peer pressure, its causes, implications, and ways of dealing with it.

Summary of the task:

The unit will have three major lessons each allocated three weeks during the semester. The main lessons will be subdivided so that each class covers a certain concept. There shall be classroom learning, group work, practical work, and a field trip to a health institution to expound more on the lessons if need be.

Instructional practices and resources:

  • Students should have writing materials including books, pens, and any other relevant material.

  • All students to have a computer, a tablet, or a smartphone which is connected to the Internet.

  • The students can also have textbooks related to the unit, and also the knowledge on how to navigate through the Internet to access relevant materials about the contents of the unit.

Evaluation of unit:

  • Weekly homework to be completed by every individual, and also three group works for every lesson.

  • Three continuous assessment tests (CATs) for each lesson.

  • An overall sitting examination at the end of the semester which will cover everything taught in class.

  • Issuing the students with open-ended questionnaires to give their opinions and what they have learned and accomplished during the semester.

Summary of the task/Action:

For this particular grades K-12th. Students or scholars work in groups a "talk show" methodology to do research on types of drug, the addiction/recovery procedures, and effects of drug abuse on community, relatives, work, friends, school, etc. Also the will explore methods for fighting “peer pressure”.


Materials/ Equipment needed:

  • Evert student to have a computer or a device that is connected to an internet.
