Internal politics involves the behavior and process of human interactions that involve power and authority. They are often referred as a tool used in assessment of the capacity of operational activities thus suggesting balance between interested parties. Sometimes, it involves use of power in an organization to achieve specific changes that are useful in an organization or the individuals within the business organization. The internal politics can lead to increased business efficiency, interpersonal relationships and increased profit in the organization. However, internal politics can also have harmful effects to the operations of a business organization when negative politics are involved (Meckling, 2011).

Negative internal politics lead to poor service delivery in business operations. This results from poor performance from the customers, which discourages customers from continued use of the services provided by a business. Another harmful effect from internal politics is unfriendly working environment. Sometimes employees’ peace can deteriorate from these politics thus resulting to high turnover rates in a business organization (Vergara, 2010). The staff members gets uncomfortable in a hostile working environment thus lowering their level of productivity. The world of business is highly productive in an environment where people work in good relations. Negative politics can ruin the existing ambience thus interfering with the available relations among the company employees.

However, the internal politics if properly managed can have a positive implication to the organization hence leading to a conducive work environment and high productivity. Some of the measures that I will put in place to avoid business failure from the negative politics include fair participation of all employees in organizational matters, being nice to the coworkers and encouraging them to do the same, careful hiring of new employees, and proper address of business issues whenever they arise. This will boost a work environment where employees are able to work harmoniously (Werner, 2012).
