You have writing assignments or projects throughout the course. The due dates for each project are noted in your syllabus. Each project should be in 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, with

1. Grammar and Formatting (Out of 5)

  • no grammatical errors

  • is the formatting 12pt, Times New Roman, double spaced?

  • are there 1 inch margins?

  • is there a clear header on the first page with name, course, date, etc?

2. Directions (Out of 10)

  • did you follow the directions of the project?

  • did you keep track of your roles during the week in a diary?

  • did you have an introduction that gives a brief description of the three significant roles and also offers your thesis statement about role performance?

  • did you correctly define and use the terms role performance, role strain, role conflict, role exit (when applicable?)

  • did you structure your paper in a clear, concise, organized way?

3. Analysis (10 points)

  • did you define the social expectations of those roles and then your own performance of them?

  • did you tie it back to notes, class, text, etc.?

  • did you analyze how social categories (ie. age, race, gender, class, etc) intersect with your role performance?

  • did you analyze (briefly) any significant social contexts in which the roles occur?

*You don’t need to attach the diary, but some short (1-2 lines at most) quotes from diary may help you illustrate your points.
