Discussion 2 - To Bid or Not to Bid

I think it is good to bid on the project as it is a ten-year long term project from one of the very important clients. There is a possibility of a partnership with this Job rather than just a supplier. This project would help in providing the necessary experience for future projects that have an RFP requirement.

The other factors that Marvin and others should consider are

  1. Bidding cost on the project: If the bidding cost is too high, then it would become a factor. Ex: During the same time, if you can bid two similar projects with the same amount, then it is not proper to bid for this project unless there are several other benefits.

  2. Project Risks: They should consider future profits and find out regarding the details of the project. Some projects will have high expectations and short intermediate deadlines. Such scenarios would require higher costs than the preplanned budget, and you might also miss some crucial project deadlines. This would potentially affect the client relationship.

  3. The Client and budget sincerity: They should also consider if the Client is sincere in providing the agreed resources and budget. If the Client is not sincere, then it would be detrimental to the project.

  4. Favorable chances of getting the project: Suppose if there are multiple organizations bidding for the project and one of the competitors is a bigger organization with highly skilled individuals, then it is better to move on to another project if Marvin and others are not confident in providing a better RFP with EBS. It is better to focus on other projects if the bidding costs are too high.

By comparing all the above factors, they need to decide on the bid based on the amount of money that would be spent, the amount of money that would be obtained, and future prospects.
