I will take Apple as an example to illustrate it.

  1. Use linking to leverage the power of in-house data sources. Apple is good at connecting consumers between different stores. They make consumers become more and more reliant on their products. Consumers can upload and store their information and file to iCloud which is a database system of Apple. Therefore, they can easily access this data whenever and wherever they want.

  2. Add the predictive power of unique, appended consumer data. Apple analyzes data resources frequently to define different consumer types and do specific promotions on them. Different data from different consumers tell everything about themselves. Based on the data they have, Apple has been trying to push consumers to buy more Apple-related products to fully rely on their services.

  3. Identify better-qualified customers for products or services. Based on the data they have, Apple clearly knows what kind of consumers need a larger room for their data storage, so that they will send email to those people to recommend them to enlarge or up-level their iCloud storage. Apple also recommends consumers to buy Apple care for their products to guarantee satisfaction during a specific period.

  4. Build personalized offers and experiences. Apple comes up with different colors and different sizes and different storage capabilities to meet different people’s needs.

  5. Create better omnichannel marketing campaigns. Apple designs unique websites and in-store experiences for consumers which can be obviously differentiated from other stores’ appearances. What’s more, they also sell Apple value gift cards as many brands do. Actually, the biggest campaign they do is themselves. Each year’s new product releasing conference is a hugely popular event during that time.

  6. Develop robust measurement and attribution efforts. As one of the biggest technology company in the world, Apple has its own perfect analysis team to measure their performance. They clearly know which product makes the most profit and which country’s market share is the largest.
