Subject: how to establish credibility at the beginning of your presentation

As the previous research, it is noticed that our department has communication issues. Today, this memo would like to report the problem of how to establish credibility at the beginning of your presentation. This report discusses the issue that many employees have when they are presenting in front of the audience and provide the four tips for building their credibility.

The employees cannot do their best and show their profession when they are presenting in front of the audience. As a result, our company is less competitive with other companies and loses a large market share. Our company cannot gain the audience’s trust and sell our products If our employees do not show their credibility and confidence. In this case, we need to train our employees to make sure what they say can make the audience believe and improve the company’s image.

To address this issue, this report would recommend four suggestions to establish employees’ credibility. these suggestions include that: provide valid premises; make eye contact; dress professionally; connect with your audience. The rest of this report would clarify these tips specifically and give examples to demonstrate them.

Provide valid premises

When employees are giving a presentation, it is important to use famous people’s quotations or scientific data to prove your arguments. The audience is more convinced of promises that are supported by large amounts of data or have been agreed by an authority. When our employees promote our products, they should tell the customer the ingredients of the products, focusing on the effects of those ingredients that have been proved by scientific experiment, and use two or three examples of how customers’ health is been improved after using our products. The most important thing is that when our employees try to persuade the audience to believe our products, they need to provide the strong and valid premises related to their argument instead of keeping introducing the products using their own words. The audience may not trust what they say, but they will believe the real facts and be influenced by other peoples’ experience.

Make eye contact

According to “The Importance of Eye Contact During A Presentation” by Dom Barnard, “With sustained, focused eye contact comes authority. If you can’t look people in the eye, you can’t expect them to believe your message or agree with your point of view. Good eye contact can communicate confidence and conviction” (October 2017). For a speak, the eye contact is not only the transmission of information, the disclosure of emotion, but also the display of their style. Our employees do need to master and use good eye contact. First, their version must be from the first row to the last row and they have to cover the audience sitting in the corners on both sides. Second, the speakers can focus on their attention on the audience in a certain area or on one particular person but be careful not to stay for a long time and that will make your audience feel uncomfortable, which will greatly reduce the effect of your presentation. The last thing is that the speaker’s sight can be divergent to the audience without looking clearly at someone or somewhere. This method is very suitable for first-time speakers to overcome their nervousness and distraction, and not to let themselves be afraid of the audience’s gaze.

Dress professionally

As employees in a company, it is necessary for them to dress professional. It not only represents the person image, but also represents the professionalism of our company. The dress of the employee will affect the audience’s impression of the company. Employees must wear formal suit when they give a presentation to our customer. Dressing appropriately can show you professionalism and increase confidence. Our clients can know our company’s culture and respect from the employees’ outlooks.

Connect with your audience

When our employees introduce a product to our clients, they need to get close to our customers. If people have positive opinion of our employees, the chances of successfully persuading the clients are greatly increased. The speakers can play videos or pictures that assist the presentation as needed. Moreover, the speakers can take advantage of his or her body language and voice changes, which will also attract the audience’s attention. The most important thing is that our employees need to be prepared to answer the questions which doubt our products from customers. Questions from audience can reflect their understandable and acceptance. Employees can establish credibility and enhance the customer’s sense of trust in products and satisfaction with the company through questions.

There are four suggestions for our employees to create credibility at the beginning of their presentation. It is essential to provide a training on presentation for our employees to improve the profession of our company. Please feel free to contact me if you decide to take a training for our employees or have questions about this memo.
