Reflection

I chose the domain because the teachers' knowledge concerning the students' characteristics such as their behaviors, abilities and weaknesses is critical in the process of learning (Pedagogical techniques for being a more effective teacher, n.d.). Hence, it enables the teachers to identify ways of improving the academic abilities of those students who may be below average, including motivating them. Consequently, it will lead to learning gains among the students.

The competencies, which I chose are typically based on the teachers' knowledge concerning the students, such as their abilities so that the teachers understand the students better, hence identify ways of improving their learning to meet their needs (NYSTS, 2011). Hence, I chose the competencies, which demonstrates that the teachers understand their students' abilities and even characteristics. The competencies also focus on the teachers' ability to develop and implement lessons, including instruction based on the needs of the students. It is important to note that the competencies also rely on the strategies and techniques that improve communication with the students.
