Hello, Donavan! I am Melvin M., and I look forward to working with you on this Essay Center Review to improve your writing today. Let's get started!

*Writing Strength:

You only have three paragraphs in your essay. Having three paragraphs helps you adhere to the paragraph requirement of your assignment and makes your essay concise. Well done, Donavan!

Content Development:

You do not explain each of the time management skills. Consider these sentences from the second paragraph:

There are a number of these skills include prioritization, goal setting, communication, delegation, plan setting, and stress management. It is important to take time to manage these skills since it helps you in organizing your work.

In the first sentence, you list the time management skills, but in the second sentence, you only state why managing time is important. When you focus on the value of time management, you will not fully develop your discussion, and readers will not know how the skills can help with time management. Since you first mention prioritization in the first sentence, you might want to focus the second sentence on what this skill is about. Here are some questions to help you:

  • What is prioritization in the context of time management?

  • What makes prioritization a necessary skill when managing time?

Your answers to the questions above will help you in explaining prioritization as a time management skill. Make sure to explain the other skills listed in your first sentence to help you fully develop in the paragraph.

*Donavan 12100610, you requested help with Introduction/Conclusion:

You do not focus the first paragraph only on background information about time management. In the second and third sentences of the introduction, you already state why good management skills are essential. However, your third paragraph is dedicated for your discussion of the value of good management skills, so providing information about this value in the introduction makes your essay unorganized and makes readers unfamiliar with time management. Instead of stating the value of good time management in the last sentences of the introduction, consider providing more background information about time management in general. Here are some questions to help you:

  • Where is time management often used or required?

  • What settings require the use of time management?

The questions above will help you focus the last two sentences of the introduction only on background information about time management.

*Donavan 12100610, you requested help with Word Choice:

You do not consistently use one point of view in your essay. Here is an example from the third paragraph:

One can understand that time is limited and there is a need to maximize the hours you have within a day for effective achievement of the set goals and objectives.

Here, you first use the third-person point of view because of “One.” Then, you use the second-person point of view because of “you.” However, shifting from using one point of view to another makes your sentence confusing, and your use of the second-person point of view is inappropriate because you do not talk directly to someone. Instead of using this point of view, consider using the third-person point of view consistently. Here is an example:

People need to improve their writing because they will use it in different situations.

In this example, I consistently use the third-person point of view because I write the common noun “People” and third-person pronouns “their” and “they.” Make sure to consistently use the third-person point of view in other sentences in your essay. For more help, consider checking the lesson on Point of View.

Summary of Next Steps:

  • Explain the time management skills.

  • Focus the first paragraph only on background information about time management.

  • Use the third-person point of view consistently.

Thank you for submitting your essay for a review, Donavan. I enjoyed helping you with this step in the revision process. Have a good day! ~Melvin M.

Time management

Time management is the process in which one plans and controls how much time they should spend on specific activities. Good time management is essential because it enables an individual to complete more activities or tasks within a short period, leading to career success as well as lowering your stress. Good time management skills on the other hand refer to the skills that help in managing time (Al Hila et al. 2017). [You do not write your in-text citation properly because of a missing comma before the year. Here is an example: (El Hammani et al., 2015).]

Time management skills

There are a number of these skills include prioritization, goal setting, communication, delegation, plan setting, and stress management. It is important to take time to manage these skills since it helps you in organizing your work. Goal setting gives one a chance to understand the end goals of an activity. Strong communication skills will allow one to make good plans for those they work for (Sainz et al. 2019). Being good in time management means that you can complete work that you have been delegated on time. [What are delegation, plan setting, and stress management about, and why are these skills considered time management skill? Answering these questions will help you explain the other skills.]

Value of good time-management skills

Good management of time adds value to one and even the entire organization. Forinstance, it allows one to accomplish a lot within a short period which will lead to more free time and more opportunities. One can understand that time is limited and there is a need to maximize the hours you have within a day for effective achievement of the set goals and objectives. Secondly, when you manage time well, it is always easy to accomplish more with very little effort. This is important because it ensures that there is no time wastage in any given way.Additionally having good management skills will also enhance your effectiveness in your career since it is the key to success and allows you to take control of your life rather than following others (Adams & Blair, 2019).
