Overview

This course picks up where Intermediate Algebra left off. Additional topics may include sequences and series, combinatorics, probability and mathematical induction.

Materials

College Algebra 11th edition, by Lial et al (2014)

Grades

5 tests worth 15 points each

Attendance in discussion forums 25 points

Total 100 points

Cheating and Plagiarism

Cheating on exams or plagiarism in your discussion forums will not be tolerated. Cite all sources you use and make sure your mathematical work is your own. If you are caught, you will fail.

Conduct in Class

Be respectful of your classmates and the instructor in your online interactions

Log in every week to read and review lessons, practice questions, and to participate in the discussions.

If you have complaints about anything, please write to me personally vs. venting in the online environment.

Attendance

You must log in each week and participate in the discussion forums (at least two posts) in order to satisfy attendance requirements. Failure to do so will not only make passing the class more difficult for you by default (you aren’t keeping up with the material/tests/assignments) you may be automatically dropped from the course. At the end of the course I will assign a final participation grade based on the number and quality of your posts. This is worth 25 points.

Statement on Disability

This course should be accessible to all students who met the academic requirements for participation. All students will be accommodated so that they can get the most from this course. If you are unable to access any information in this online class, contact the instructor privately to discuss the specific situation as soon as possible. You can also contact the DRC (Disability Resource Center) at 444-545-0000 to arrange reasonable accommodations.

Statement on Academic Freedom
