Corporate Fundamentalist Culture and Sustainability, White Paper

Introduction

Organizational culture can be defined as a set of behaviours that guide how the employees and management in an organization handle their activities. These set of beliefs help in bringing the employees together without making one party feel inferior. The ideas also govern how the employees relate and interact with each other, giving them a common ground for interaction. The fundamentalist's culture has influenced the organization negatively as per the provided scenario. The corporate culture is essential for the development, popularity, and success of a company (Hope, 2017). Gabriel (2015) postulates that a broken corporate culture often affects the corporation's longevity and development. Therefore, the corporates need to develop cultures that will favour their growth and the growth of the employees.

Fundamentalist tendencies may eventually lead to corporate cultures that can put a company’s longevity at risk.

Poor leadership in the management

Proper organization management should always consider the welfare of the employees alongside ensuring that the organization achieves its objectives. Appropriate strategic plans should be initiated together with reward systems that are fair and based on the performance of the employees (Zhuo, n.d.). The administration should ensure that the employees have the right working conditions. The respect for employees should also be highly promoted and respecting the employees will improve productivity. A good leadership strives to provide excellent working connections between the employees, ensures that every employee is treated equally, and they also offer favourable conditions for working.

Micromanagement

It is a form of management where the supervisor or the manager or the team leader makes frequent close observations and controls the work of his/her employees fully. The employees always need some space so that they can exercise their creativity and skills in their work. Micromanagement often develops a very tensed working environment making the employees work with tensed minds, hence affecting productivity. Micromanagement also indicates that employers, managers, or supervisors lack confidence and faith in their employees, and this reduces the working morale for the employees (Scarnati, 2002). Therefore, micromanagement should not be encouraged, but the employees should be given the freedom to exercise their skills, creativity, and talents. Employees with boosted morale seldom produce excellent work.

Preferential treatment

In an organization, the employees require to be treated fairly and equally with each other. The organization is required to address each of the employees with fairness without considering their rank in the organization (Larsson, 2016). The organization also ought to come up with solutions to solve the various cases of discrimination. The department of human resources also has a role to play in ensuring that everybody is educated concerning all aspects of perception. Employees tend to quit or flee from their duties when they feel that they have been discriminated in any slight way. Therefore, the organization should ensure that there is no discrimination of the employees.

Poor communication

Continuous and clear communication is essential for any organization to achieve its goals. Communication is critical in many ways, such as facilitating the various operations in the organization. Poor communication stagnates activities and can also lead to misunderstandings in most cases (GEORGIEV, 2012). The sharing of ideas depends heavily on the aspect of the disclosure; hence, when the connection is terrible, the sharing of essential concepts will be minimum, and the company will lack creativity and diversity.

Hyper competition

This is a term that describes how an organization uses some tactics to interfere with the advantage achieved by competition within the organization. A game within the organization is significant for its development. However, when the competition becomes unfriendly, it brings about differences between the employees.

Bad habits

Bad habits always begin with the central government of the organization. When the organization management practices terrible habits such as laziness and violation of punctuality, the other employees copy the same act. They will continue to believe that that is the correct way of doing things in the organization. When the standards of the organization are not taken keenly by the leaders, the employees will also not consider the same rules when working, and this negative culture will lead to the downfall of the organization.

Office gossip

Office gossip always brings negative vibes into the environment. It also brings about a negative culture. Scandal causes a tensed working environment and misunderstanding between the employees. It brings hatred, bitterness, and negativity to the cooperative, leading to poor results.

Lack of rapport

Empathy is essential in human relations, even in the organization. Having compassion for the workers promotes the relationship with them and makes them feel more valuable ("Enhancing Organizational Citizenship Behaviour by Strengthening Leadership Style and Decision Making," 2019). Being emphatic and understanding the frailty of the workers is very important in the workplace.

Office discipline

When an organization is deprived of office discipline, the office space often becomes chaotic. It can also promote behaviours that can be unethical and immoral. Being ethical is very important in all aspects of work and can lead to the success of the company. Poor office discipline will amputate the organization activities leading to failure of attaining the required objectives ("Enhancing Organizational Citizenship Behaviour by Strengthening Leadership Style and Decision Making," 2019).

Lack of breaks after long hours of work

The employers might need some breaks like lunch breaks and a few days off. It helps them to break the monotony, enabling them to come back to work with fresh minds and renewed energy. It will make them work at the optimum of their abilities to ensure that the company becomes successful.

Conclusion

Negative culture in an organization lead to a distraction from the intended purpose. Therefore, the leaders have the responsibility to ensure that good organizational culture is cultivated so that the organization achieves its objectives.
