The biggest threat to humanity is humanity itself when it comes to the discovery of an invention, entity or almost anything in general. To be more specific, when it comes to the technological world, the invention and sector of robotics has been of a great concern as time passes by and it is only a matter of time until humanity self-destructs.

Economists are predicting that by the year 2030, robots have the possibility of taking over twenty million manufacturing jobs around the world (Chloe Taylor, 2019). This situation can pose a threat to the average human who relies on a 9-5 job to supply for themselves and their family. In specific areas such as the United States, they alone will have around 1.5 million jobs lost due to the increase of robots by the year 2030 (Chloe Taylor, 2019).

From automation factories, to even the agriculture sector being affected by robots, the “robot” takeover is an ever-growing issue within our world. Within the agricultural sector, there was a recent “Human vs Robot” test. This comprised of a human fruit competition without crushing or dropping any fruit. The human success rate was closer to 80 percent, making Harv the robot the underdog, but does not need a visa or sick days (Danielle Paquette, 2019). One Harv machine is programmed to do the work of 30 humans (Danielle Paquette, 2019). As time passes by, technology is vastly advancing and within the next 10 years, one Harv machine may be programmed to do the work of 100 humans!

With my own personal experience with technology, I have had my ups and my downs. Firstly, I am always amazed and fascinated with what new piece of technology comes out next. From virtual reality, to that new graphics card; I greatly appreciate the dedicated engineers who are always working around the clock to advance our technological world. Though, recently, my own experience, as an Electronic Engineer Technician who designs hardware, there are components that I work with that can be of an annoyance. For example, with recently building a new computer rig and spending thousands of dollars on parts, the second most expensive part being the motherboard was not working at all.

In summation, the most common aspect I feel that the human-race is most threatened by is the robotics sector. This is due to the sheering fact that robots in general have the possibility to do a nation-wide takeover and cause the loss of millions to hundreds of millions of jobs lost. At the end of the day, we are the ones who are letting this happen by constantly innovating this type of technology. It is the money-hungry minds of humans who will be the ones to take advantage of this take-over, as having one robot will save companies a lot more money than having one-thousand workers in a factory.
