According to a report by CDC on 25th September 2020, there was a report that one in every fifty-four children has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The costs that these families have to come up with can be way too much to handle. On average, autism costs an estimated $60,000 a year through childhood, with the bulk of the costs in special services and lost wages related to increased demands on one or both parents (Autism Speaks, 2020). My Brother Rocks the Spectrum is coming to you to raise funds to sponsor more children each year. If we can raise more funds, we can help low-income families who cannot afford to help their children get the help they desperately need. Especially during the covid19 pandemic, most parents have lost their sources of income, which means that they cannot support their children who are living with this disorder. This disorder begins from early life and can last throughout their lives; it affects how a child learns, how they communicate and interact with their peers. When these people talk to others they have several problems like not looking you into the eye as you communicate with them and their interests are restricted and behavior repetitive. Such children should have regular healthcare checkups in order to understand their development fully; they should also be comprehensively evaluated and diagnosed by several specialists after conducting several tests. Currently, we do not have scientifically established causes of ASD, although suggestions have shown the possibility of being associated with the genetic composition and the environment. The earlier these diagnoses are made, the better chances are of positive results for the patients. Also there is no one perfect way that can be used to treat autism, although it can include; medicines to control these symptoms, taking communication therapy, training on behavior and skills.

Hence as MY BROTHER ROCKS THE SPECTRUM we want to come up with a new program that will make the treatment of children living with autism cheaper and more available to everyone especially those from humble backgrounds. This program will involve hiring a communication expert whose purpose will be teaching these children appropriate communication skills. The earlier these children learn, the more effective the program will be. The gap we have identified in society is that children with ASD do not receive adequate care from their parents as required. This is because they do not have enough time to work and take care of these children while making therapies for them. According to a study by Khanna et al. in 2011, ASD children have high care demands that require patience, effort, and time which most parents do not have which causes mental problems, anxiety and depression to them. As MY BROTHER ROCKS THE SPECTRUM, we want to hire a new facility and communication expert to conduct therapy for these children. The communication expert will also offer door to door services without any cost for low-income families. For this program to be successful, we are faced with financial constraints; that is why we are appealing for more financial support. We think that this support will help the children to develop positively and achieve appropriate communication and behavior. The program will help to increase direct contact with the children living with the condition and helping to achieve the best in life since they also deserve it. Through the program the organization will also be able to reach more people especially for those from low income facilities and societies.
