(Look at the decimal value of Octet 1 and compare it to the 5 IPA classes)

A 0-127

B 128-191

C 192-223

D 224-239

E 240-255


Step 2: Identify the Classful Subnet Default Mask of the given IPA

A=255.0.0.0 B=255.255.0.0 C=255.255.255.0

Step 3: Compare the default mask to the give mask to determine if host bits are On/Borrowed/Masked.
