Armony, A. & Velásquez, N. (2015). Anti-Chinese sentiment in Latin America: An analysis of online discourse. Journal of Chinese political science, 20(3), 319-346.

Armony and Velásquez (2015) conducted research based on social media users' comments on news articles about China found in major newspapers from countries in Central and South America. This research focuses on the public's reaction to Chinese growth in the region. It reconstructs the negative opinion about the Chinese influence and advancement in the area is causing among the population. This article will help point out that despite the population's beliefs of the Chinese doing in their country, the government will continue seeking financial help from China.

Bersch, K. & Koivumaeki, R. I. (2019). Making inroads: Infrastructure, state capacity, and Chinese dominance in Latin American development. Studies in comparative international development, 54(3), 323-345.

According to the authors, Berch and Koivumaeki (2019), Chinese involvement in Latin American infrastructure development has increased in the past ten years. The abundance of Chinese investment along the region led specialists to question Chinese infrastructure development. This article is based on China's concept of infrastructure dominance utilizing data from over 400 of the most critical public infrastructure projects the authors found. In countries with weak infrastructure institutions, China trends to act more aggressively to dominate infrastructure development projects and markets. This source brings to light the Chinese ability to adapt and approach countries to obtain domestic institutions' dominance. This peer revised article provides recent information on Chinese influence in the Latin American market. This source will help show Chinese investment and aggressive behavior in Latin America to remove the competition and be the primary provider. The information will also help compare the United States investments in the region with the Chinese on raising influence among the different markets. This source adds the neutrality needed to avoid the anti-China bias.

Feinberg, R. (2011). China, Latin America, and the United States: Congruent interests or tectonic turbulence? Latin American research review, 46(2), 215-224.

This article is a review of the following books, "China in Latin America: The Whats and Wherefores," by Robert Evan Ellis, "The Beijing Consensus: How China's Authoritarian Model Will Dominate the Twenty-First Century," by Stefan Halper, and "China's Expansion into the Western Hemisphere: Implications for Latin America and the United States," edited by Riordan Roett and Guadalupe Paz. The books related to the Chinese, Latin America, and USA situation. The article provides credible information from published and reputable authors. This source is critical in supporting my theory in my research paper. I will use this source's expert information to fully understand the situation between the United States, China, and Latin America.

Walborn II, G. A. (2014). The Americas in the balance national security implications of Chinese influence in Latin America. FAOA Journal of international affairs, 17(2), 20-45.

The article studies how Chine's economic influence worldwide and especially in Latina America, affects the United States' national security. It describes how Chinese global influence has brought instability to the countries within the Western Hemisphere and how it affects regional stability and national security. This article also covers the ways by which the United States can best engage with Latina American nations. This article is beneficial for my research to give me the strategic military point of view concerning Latin America's Chinese involvement. The author's military background gives him the tactical and technical knowledge to point out the discrepancies in our system and how the Chinese advancement in Latin America would affect our national security.

Yu, L. (2015). China's strategic partnership with Latin America: A fulcrum in China's rise. International affairs, 91(5), 1047-1068.

In this article, the author, Yu (2015), describes China's efforts to create a strategic partnership with Latin America. For over twenty years, the Chinese government has determinedly extended its economic and political involvement in Latin America (Yu, 2015). This effort shows the Chinese determinations of gaining influence in the region to continue achieving wealth and power while rising as a global power. The Chinese strategy of influencing countries with economic cooperation helps portray China as a country that offers wealth opportunities, therefore giving them leverage over its Latin America's partners. This source will support my argument that the Chinese can be established as a partner of choice in Latin America and give them strategic access to the continent. The author has affiliated with the School of International Relations at Renmin University Beijing and Guest Associate Professor at Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture with dozens of peer review articles giving him a well- founded base to dialog about Chinese influence worldwide and their intent of rising up the hierarchy.
